As long as it gets its initial set (if you can rub it up that it), it can take in a frost which stops the chemical reaction, then when it warm up again the chemical reaction kicks in again and continues hardening...what an anorak I am

Freising weather
Thought I'd sit n have a coffee soaking up some rays :descansando:

I rendered a north facing gable end in December a few years ago when the weather forecast got it wrong.
Minus 6 it dropped to .... I feared the worst?
No frost proofer in the mix, but all was fine.

on site work it needs to be +2 and rising before you can start, stop when it falls back to +2 and falling. the areas need to be covered with tarp. and heaters placed under the tarps.for protection of work over night. the thermometer needs to be fitted to a wooden pole and away from the building to get a correct reading.

i find that it is more trouble then it is worth to render in these conditions as you could lose your labour, materials and earnings will be low.

Rule of thumb used to be "3 degrees and rising" for working with mortar/render and unprotected skim. Temp generally falls again between 2& 3 so cover up work is good advice.

How do they render in Russia & places like Norway??

oconnells who were a large firm of plasterers and they always had a few direct employed plasterers that they wanted to get rid of. would send them out rendering sand and cement in bad weather they would sack the lot if there was not proper protection of the work, the union could not argue against this.
