Grit fail

What brand/make do you use.

Not bnq after I popped in and see it's £13.50
I don't care what PVA , thick and cheap , buy it on the net in bulk along with beads scrim screws etc

I've had a lot of trouble last couple of years with pva not doing it's job, as in the skim separating, and sliding. Can anyone recommend a good brand of pva.

Might be too strong or too many coats. You don’t want to kill all the suction

I think all pva needs less water lately. Even good stuff

Dunno John as I don’t buy much. Observation over the years is that if background is high suction, then a few thin coats soak in and prime better than a really thick coat. Thick coat when dries tends to peel if you rub it with your finger. Painted surfaces, tend to mix a bit thicker, but I never gauge it, just instinct.

was paint you gritted over quite glossy John?
the Bostik plasterers primer will only deal with paint to a silk level, if it's glossy they recommend using their renderers primer instead whereas Bond-it will deal with all paints.

Didn't think it needed grit if pva has done it's job shouldn't have to fkin grit.

If it's shiny paint or paste on surface use thick PVA , roller on and scrub with stiff brush

I had same problem with evostick and diall pva...
Everbuild is good.

A lot of my work nobody would touch , I see it as entertainment as the customer wants the cheap shortcut at their risk , grit adds depth to an overskim so no way that's going on a ceiling have gone over someone else's grit on walls on an abandoned job , I need a variety of suctions across a wall of mixed substrates and you can't achieve that with grit
