Alright lads was just wondering how yous keep the work coming in such as all advertising or builders or bigger companys I keep the flow going from builders I, ve worked for over the years n a few big plastering contractors i, ve worked for and the usual recommendations it seems to keep me busy thoughts plzzz:-0

customer recommendation is best. about a third of our work come through the local yacht and sailing clubs. another third from our group of friends in the building trade as we recommend each other. the other third from previous customers and their families
.
we never advertise, or any thing else that will cost us money. we would never take sub contract work off another plastering firm, the only 2 building firms that we contract to pay out on the day of completion, and we have worked for them for over 40 years.

Just word of mouth and recommendations for me, never been out of work, just think its about building a strong reputation and good contacts

Think its the same for most contacts n recommendations that advertising is rubbish when me and the m8 went out on our own we were with yell.com local papers and other things it was a waste of time

with adverts and yellow pages you will attract every dodgy builder form the local area. you will be spending 50% of your time chasing payments.

i agree malc nothing but agro from yello pages normally want the job done for less than the plaster costs

Do what I do.
Don't advertise. Don't sign write your van. Don't have a website. Don't rip people off.
Do a nice job. Turn up when you say you're going to, if you can't, tell them.

Have to disagree with no writting on the van and not having a website. I personaly think no writting on the van looks pretty unprofesional. As for a website i get alot more work from it than i put in. But each to their own...

I don't want any more work, and I don't want every fcuker knowing where I am either.

Done an advert in local paper once and all I got was people ringing to skim the odd wall and patch a couple of holes. Trying to sound interested on the phone when they're explaining never easy. Never bothered after that Lol.I take every job on comes my way cause it always leads on to bigger and better jobs even if its a shitty one.My moto like a lot of others quality and reliability. keeps the work coming in :RpS_thumbup:

Other trades i know had signwriting on there vehicles, one had his tools stolen out of the van so ripped the signage off
Another constantly had people ringing his mobile giving him aggro after he cut them up in his van in the traffic.

Hello

A good website with plenty of content works for me, also social media.
The vans are sign written and yes they have been done, it does produce the work though. Every person that calls we take through an enquiry form, we ask where they got our number from and about 25% of the times its the vans working locally in our area.

Best of luck

Van sign written might not get you work directly but done right can give a more professional look and help towards business image.

Id spend the money on cider!! Much more worth while, you'll just get idiots & time wasters who get 20 quotes for a small patch
