had a small patch in a ceiling to do , half a handboard of finish, job done , 70.00 quid, could do these jobs all day long, but to be fair semi retired now just 2 or 3 days a week, everybodys circumstances are different

Fat from it,if I was thinking of you I would of replied at 3am..4.52am to me is not early.problem I have with you is your the type of guys this trade needs rid of,your pricing mentality is laughable.do you think a plumber or sparks would charge less just because there was on there way home from a job or from a tescos shop? I bet there would still charge a call out fee aswell as a price to fix it.shape up or does us all a favour and do something else

Question for you, have you ever tried charging more? You're saying the same things the guy I work with says.
So they have to spend a couple of weeks wages to get a bedroom skimmed, what's wrong with that? Noone own a new car where you live? Noone go on holiday? Buy a new kitchen?

Yes loads of times I've priced jobs on 300 a day no luck for me to get that I'd have to travel aeay I'd rather have a steady 140 170 a day no stress and home with family! Trouble is you got so many lads on 120 a day can't compete. Only jobs I would make 300 day. Chimney work. So I'm just hopping every chimney will leak in Wales for the next 5 years!
 
Looked to price at a large hall way and ceiling, re-skim job,. Customer told me she had already had one price of £700. Time to walk away, could not match that price, would have charged £700 to get it prepared for skimming. Set up access equipment, re-board ceiling and PVA walls.
Some plasterers working far too cheap.
When everything goes good on a job, it's still hard work.

Solid as a rock this wall.barely 1/2 m2 Square.just prepped it ready for skim,lady says to me ohh that was quick have you got spare time now,me thinking lovely coffee no sugar thanks,but no she said can you go around 2 coving lines in bedrooms as there have cracked.not today love

a spread with a good rep wouldn't need to worry about the cheap asses, let them get on with it I say.
They'll all be working like twaats well into there 60's/70's with fk all to show for it except a dose of arthritis
 
@Spudknit did it chip back nice and square for your board to tap back so you could get it summet like .
I.d of chucked some xxxxxx in xxxxxxxxx be ready to skim in 15 mins

I've got one booked in for September High as f**k all just a re-skim charged £1750 for that 3 days work for me, I charge 800 quid minimum for a hsl depending on size access what needs doing etc
