Lime in top coat or waterproofer?

Hi all, have not done a huge amount of rendering and am not sure whether to use lime or waterproofer in the topcoat , I've heard you shouldnt mix the two, it's probably going to be hot when I'm rendering so I'm going to put waterproofer in the scratch, is it better to leave out the lime totally as I've heard it can let water in easier and waterproofer will give me a bit of extra time or is it better to keep the lime for its flexibility and lose the waterproofer ? Advice greatly appreciated

Not big meterage, awkward garden walls, float and sponge

Well you won’t get a good knapp finish without lime and I would‘nt like to be putting on a big gable without waterproofer in it.

Waterproof in the scratch , lime in the top
