Think some of your lads are very strange.
shall i finish at 1.30 and earn 160 a day or finish at 4.30 for 250 a day erm let me think.
Think maybe some spreads are either allergic to money, sick, lame or just that lazy/slow they havent got a decent days graft in them.
Ill carry on with the 3 sets a day and home by 5pm cause the job simply isnt as hard as some make out.
Burnout by 50.

Retired by 50.

And do what?

There is more to life than swinging like a windmill wearing a hard hat on site.
Small builders, domestic and other tradesmen offer so much more variety than just skimming boards on site.
I have no desire to retire at 50, it's a way of life to me ... I love it!
Don't get me wrong, running around at 7pm picking up gear, chasing money & pricing does my fruit, but on the whole I can't see me ever packing in totally.
When I'm 70 I will still do the odd arch or bit of coving over a natter & cup of tea ..... it's all about the journey me old mate. :RpS_thumbup:

i have never found plastering hard , it is as hard as you make it. i do not want to work on a building site doing 3 hits a day and paying 40% income tax. it pays to have a little think sometimes!

I think your genetics and life style also play a big part in it...ive worked with many spreads that look so awkward how they work with no real system or rythem ive always been realy methodical and work as smart as possible but have more ailments than most!!!

But and this is a really big but, it'll be completely on my own terms if I chose to come back.
it'll be because I want to do it, and not because I have no other choice then keep doing it.

i have not been blessed with good health, at 42 i had a heart attack, at 58 i had a 4x heart bypass but i have no aches and pains and i do feel good, and i will be up at 5 in the morning.

i take a defibrilator to work. wouldnt want something stupid like a heart attack gettin in the way of a guageing. resusitate and trowel up thats my motto

I was on a job around 15 years ago and could hear creaky floor boards but was kneeling on a concrete floor, realised it was ME. :-)
Hope it works out for you Scottie as I have a plan too, it's called a lucky dip! :RpS_cool:

Thing is john no one can predict the future, I've been told the graveyards are full of wealthy people, but equally they must also be rammed with paupers.
I have a long term plan that may or may not pan out, at the moment its more than achievable but who knows.
illness, injury, no work . These things luckily i haven't encountered yet but any one of these will be a game changer, its all ifs and ands and pots and pans mate.

Unless your stashing hundreds per month into an index linked pension, the old enemy inflation will catch up with you in 10 or so years!

Imagine not having a pay rise for 30 years ... that will be you at 80!

A gang of reliable lads or property is the only way to drop out early in this game.

My mortgage was paid off by the time I was 35. Buy to lets will be my pension plan.

Fair play to you mate, you know what your doing, life just a game, some play it better than others.

i have owned quite a few buy to lets, sold them off.
the ownership of anything with a deed or log book title deed can be easy traced and you will be paying unearned tax at a higher rate. these can also lead to a tax investigation which can go on for years.
