Agree Nela could do with making a 5 inch width rather than a 4.75. That extra bit of girth makes all the differenceThe gold handled MT's are terrible. Any preworn trowel is shite. The nelas premium are very good but not wide enough the Refinas again very good but neither of them want me to sway from MT. Must admit i use Refina s*p*r*lex and plazzi at times to help
Stop standing on thrm or using them as boomerangs lolMt guarantee to stay flat, dont quite no exactly what they mean,as all mine go like bananas,
4 month old nela premium going that way.
Dont think there is a trowel that wont warp after use.
No marshy was from a local place that mainly sell toolsErrr let me guess did you buy this "MT" at B&Q??

Carbon steel Marshall town extra lite, whetstone, piece of slate and a barbers strop (get the strop and whetstone off eBay Amazon etc) spend an hour or so with it , soak in vinegar, clean off with a little bicarbonate, keep dry end of day , nothing better. Since I learned this off husbands choice @beddy and the very sexual @Hicky I have become obsessed with sharpening trowels. Been skimming industrial units with lots of metres, these sharpened trowels finish beautifully, second pass feels like your third [emoji106]
Just pm me which size you want and il get a price for you and if your happy il sort it for youI used my carbon mt on a set today, very happy with it it layed the set on nicely and I almost avoided running a second flatten over but I did through force of habit, the only thing that I didn't find good was the fact it started rusting up after 20 minutes. I've had it for over a year on sand cement work and it was still silver underneath and just black on top.
I think I'm definitely going to go for another mt but not a permashape pre worn b*ll***s one, and I want stainless. Marshalltown uk site seems to have some good deals on atm but if I get stuck ill definitely be taking @Marshy up on his offer if he doesn't mind!

Welcome to the forumMany years ago you could only get shite trowels, blokes in the know used a Tyzack 10 rivet double shank carbon steel trowel. The process was to wear it in on S/C then, when the corners and edge was worn off, make it your go to skim trowel and get another started. That time of day we still used real wooden crossgrain floats and them there new fangled pvu were "never gonna catch on"---------times change. All the best, Dropsalot.
Curry?? You need to explain yourself sir??Curry make a very nice trowel also lads
Lovely balance and when broke in? Is as sharp as I have ever known TBH
All I've got is an MT with red handle. Have used it for years on S&C and skimming. Had 2 but dropped one of top of chimney and broke it at the corner. Was f**k**g disgusted! Upgraded to speed skim and eze spat. Been using the 1200 eze spat last 2 weeks and very impressed thou still haven't got the hang of it fully.
