Ok mate, sorry about that. Will get a blade sent to you ASAP. Got quite a few guys around are area using them ATM and have not heard of that happening.

Does anyone think letting some acrylic /bucket coat finish or whatever you call it leaving it too set on a cheap float would act as a decent rasp?

i was only using it to give a final cross on a ceilin:RpS_confused:................................................must have caught one of the massive ridges i leave in the plaster:RpS_thumbup:

ive got no idea ryan to be honest how it happened i was cross troweling and herd a snap and there it was bold as brass.

just so i know when you looking for the reviews mate

That's fine mate, we are looking for honest feedback from you guys. If they end up not being your thing then it's fine :-) please feel free to mention it in the review

so far i do like it mabey a little tweak but so far so good but like i said havent used it enough to judge it properly yet

Well the sooner I get this blade to you the better! Hope it didn't interfere with your day too much. I will also arrange for that blade to get collected so I can have a quiet word with the manufacturer :-)

Hi guys,

We have some new plastic skimming trowels in stock. We have had some local Plasterers testing them and have had some great feedback, we now want to get
They have a flexible blade and the blades are also replaceable.

We are looking for some more people to test these, if you are interested in testing one please can you leave a comment below and a reason why we should pick you. We
also need a review done on them :)

Ryan

Hi plasterers1stopshop would like to try one,if I don't like it you can have it back and let someone else have a go ,now you can't get fairer than that.

Hi mate, thanks for the offer. I really would send another out but I have quite a few out on trial already. I'm sure if some of the guys on here trialing it don't get on with it then they will pass it on to someone else.

This lot :RpS_lol: pass it on ,ebay more like , Ryan have you ever thought of hiring out for Week ,i don,t know if it would work for you ,only a thought

Haha I'm sure some will pass it on, I can hope! I have thought about doing what you suggested but it gets very tricky with guys saying 'its rubbish/broke' so they threw it away and won't pay for it and they are actually still using it. If you have any ideas on how it would work please let me know

BTW Guys I'm off to Some places in Europe at the end of the month to discuss new tools and improvements to existing ones

If there is anything you guys are really interested in or improvements you can suggest towards the tools I will see what I can do :-)

Do it on a week hire ,when it is sent out ,you take pictures of the tool ,one copy for you one for them ,if they want it after a week no hire cost ,if not return in the same condition as sent , a charge is made .Most plasterers look after their tools ,or they would be buying a trowel every week and you would be in Hawaii

I wouldn't say blown out mate, obviously I'm going to get feedback on these in areas that need improving. I will see what I can do getting them made better. Then I will happily send you on of the newer ones.

I've been plastering for 30years Ryan ,do you want an honest opinion,or bullshiit,it's up to you.

Blimey Keith I've really got time to fanny about like that

Does sound like a good idea, will have to look into it more to see how it works. Would not mind that time in Hawaii though!

A lot of trades have to buy new drill bits, blades, core drills (list is endless) and us spreads are too tight to spend 10, 20 30 quid to try something that may or may not make life easier. Is it just me or are we a bit tight as a whole

We re the least paid that's why lol

ryan i reckon the snap is caused by the handle not the white plastic being too soft.
if the bit that snapped was any harder it wouldnt alow the actuall blade to flex like its ment to but i think the base of the handle i.e the bit thats in immediate contact with white plastic, is too big, and as a result when the blade and the white plastic are trying to flex the corner of the wooden handle base is soo close to the corner of said white strip it pushes up against the wood and snaps.
this makes sense in my head ryan i dnt know how to explain it any clearer to you really, long and short change the handle and the trowels a goodun. one like this would be perfect

Ah now it has, that is very achievable, I do want to try my best to keep the cost of it down for you guys though. I will see what handles I can get to fit on it, is wood ok to safe costs or do you prefer something nicer?

woods fine mate but i think the base needs to be smaller and the whole handle has a very upright stiff feel to it, so it feels like when your holding it you cannot move it about so freely as one would like to.
i think the handle itself needs to be smaller in girth (oioi before anyone brings that up) slightly lower with more of a constant swoop to it like the one above rather than just a large chunk of wood sticking out. also round off the edges of the part in contact with white strip to stop the point of the corner snapping the plastic when it flexes:RpS_thumbup:
just my thoughts

I've been using mine..

Handle is a bit chunky but got used to it and the different feel of using a plastic trowel.

First job was on the 2nd, nice little patching/blending in job on couple of staircase walls - mate skimmed them and then I polished them with the plastic. Comment I got off my mate was '..the painter's gonna love you..' left a lovely finish. My mate said he thought it would be load of sh*te but he was impressed, never thought it would be any good but was wrong.

2nd job was a hall/landing/staircase, walls were sucking in a bit so used it to flatten the skimming before I first trowelled it which went lovely. Finished trowelling and polished it straight away with the plastic. At this point my mate said he wanted one lol. Finished the job today and very pleased with it. Dropped the last wall and used to to second trowel, hardly used any water just a wipe now and again (first trowel pretty much did it due to suction). Polished it up with the plastic. Leaves a highly polished finish which the customer loved but which I doubt the painter would :rolleyes)
Whilst sat having tea I couldn't help but notice the reflection of the stairs on the wall..

Anyway, we'll be getting in touch for a second one and spare blade as my mate couldn't stop going on about it :RpS_laugh:

Dunno what others think but I like it. :RpS_thumbup:

Got a garage ceiling to board and skim Saturday so will be using it on that as well.

Rhys,

Thanks for your review on the trowel. Great review as well :-)
Give me a call when you need one and I will sort a discount out on the replacement blade.

We have smaller wooden handles in stock so will put one of them on. I'm hoping it is just a freak accident with yours to be honest. And no others break! But do realise the handles need to change so will see what I can do. Thanks again for your positive comments mate

couple of blokes i work with want some aswell ryan i just need to get the better handle on them to show them, they likes the finish but not the feel of the trowel because of the handle.
blade feels nice its not as rigid as refinas although its as thin if not thinner but this just makes it easier to repair if you catch it, which i like and the blade feels smooth and gives little resistance makeing it easier to do the final dry trowel overall i like it, i havent had a chance to try to flatten in with it but thats not what these sort of trowels are made for.

although as i said i have only used this trowel once (and yes it did break on me but i trust ryan will sort this little hitch out) i have used alot of plastic trowels over the last couple of years trying to find one i like this is one that i like, if you use plastic trowels and/or are thinking of getting one of these do they dnt cost alot and they are nice to use (once handle is sorted:RpS_thumbup:) and leaves a nice finish.
make sure you make a protective sleeve for it once you have purchased one, unless ryan can fashion something up to protect this trowel with

Cheers mate. Will make sure I get handle sorted and will 100% get this blade to you ASAP. Protective case i will see what I can do!Thanks for all your feedback so far mate, greatly appreciated! As I said to Rhys about the discount the same applies to you.

Aye, protective case would be good. I keep mine in the box you sent it in :RpS_thumbup:

i made a sleeve for it today out of thick corex easier to lug about than the box:RpS_thumbup:
