My lil bros a fireman, hes a big hard fecker as well. Some of the s**t he tells me that hes seen - I think theyre worth every penny they earn quite honestly. Would you want to pull a half chared 5 year old kid out of a fire for feck all? then go home to your own kids and feed them and not think about the lil one you pulled out of the fire? I think probably not. Hes also a semi pro rugby player so makes a little cash of this in his time (cant learn this skill on a week course).
Anyway rant over about the firean thing. Why not lets all set up plastering schools ourselves say 10 students a week £4 Grand - cheers 9-5 mon to friday.
Also, you must all agree that we have actually picked up work from these chancers when theyve fecked it up and we put it right - I for one have had to undo a lot of this work. Also with chancers they never get repeat work and never get recomended - so should be short time careers as ahem "plasterers"
Firemen cant complain about the pay they know what it is before they start!
ya ya, but are u saying that people who do plastering courses are chancers?
Quite simply YES
University degree Law fresh out - would you want them to defend you in a murder trial?
Accountancy degree fresh out - would you trust them with a multi million pound corporartion tax return?
etc
etc
etc
so YES, the real world is out there...................................
why would you put waterproofer in s/c for internal work?
lol, mate serious your an arseh+le ok, my mate who is plastering near 30 years started with a course... i thought this forum had intelligent people
in it.. mate serious u have are really letting this forum down.... i have had some intelligent conversations with people and good smart and knowledgable
answers, but your answer makes me want to throttle you. look at what your saying kn@b.........
a person wanting to do well in life and get a qualification say in...., plastering, that person has now been shown the correct way and not the
cowboy way. all he needs now is a chance to gain extra knowledge and experience. he is not calling himself an experienced plasterer mate,
he is just starting out... how is that a chancer? think about it...lol
i work in a builders merchants and i am seeing polish, lithuanians etc buying trolleys of plaster, hardwall etc etc... no qualifications (just chancing there arm), ripping people off and not giving a sh"t. i see it everyday... i went and looked at an internal wall that had been rendered. I was asked to skim it. It
was about 7m long. The guy who done it was romanian and was an experienced all rounder. His boss told me (who is a customer where i work). When I got there first thing i noticed was the wall hadnt been devil floated, and the render was not closed in. second I splashed the wall with water and it sucked it straight in... I asked him and ne forgot to put waterproofer in the render.... I just walked away from the job......NOW MATE THATS A CHANCER....
another example a customer buying hardwall asking me how much PVA do use? lol
and trying to use bonding on thermalites.......lol thats a chancer
Now are u grasping what im saying?
Thanks FreeD your comments are correct, u do need to take a chance!!
does everyone agree with me or am I way off the mark?
I do understand a lot of plasteres never did a course and was taught the hard way and are time served now, but a course
is 100 times better than CHANCING !!
Good point Danny. I m 44 now and me and me mate ( another proper paddy) worked 1 and 1 on sites for years. A lot of younger
spreads and deffo not coursers wont understand that to float n set 90m2/100m2 a day was a normal dayswork (i was the 2nd one)
Body is f**k*d now after doing it but we earned well 15 yrs ago on £5 m2, struggling now though :RpS_crying:
thats still a normal days work and still 5 pound a m2 irish im still doing it now at 43

dont worry mate, as with most forums on the internet, people are know it alls and always try to put other people down to make themselves feel bigger and better!
Nothing wrong with doing a course, but providing you dont think thats the end of it, as really thats just the beginning! I make mistakes all the time and I been doing it about 7 years now, all experience means is you **** up less!
I can't wait for the journey to end 36 years now still doing the same shite i was doin at 16thanks, na i fully understand, i did a course and yes its the beginning, i know that and am looking forward to the journey!!!
I can't wait for the journey to end 36 years now still doing the same shite i was doin at 16
totally agree mate
do you remember sirapite b
It's no good moaning about people doing courses and then taking your work if you are prepared to give help and advise to the numpties and chancers on this forum, this forum IMO has really dumbed down and is now not so much a plasterers forum as a "I want to be a plasterer" forum. All these chancers are taking someones work if not yours.
