Opening a merchants

Been dreaming of opening up a warehouse that just stocks and does delivery of all plasters and renders boards beads etc then batter everyone else on price but tbh it would probably only be pallet and bulk delivery, any advice or thoughts

It would be for the plasterers run by plasterers to basically get prices right down for spreads

:tanguero:

You'll need a seriously big wedge of cash behind you to buy in big enough bulk to compete with all the others selling those and much more ! Maybe Danny and a few other rich spreads on here can do a dragons den interview for you ? :buitre:

Good luck mate, taken over 15 years to get to where we are today.

The margins are tight in materials already and to be honest, it's a nightmare stocking and shifting powdered products

We always come across companies setting up shops with the aim of providing their contracting company with cheaper products, guess what happens... the rates go down! The manufactuerers know people try to do this, they won't just open accounts up easily

You're more than welcome to spend a week with me and see what's involved, you'll be buzzing to get back on the trowel!

Our aim is to be as competitive as we can on everything we do and offer the service you guys need

Isn't that what piss do?
Yes tbh I forgot about him ( don't know how , it was only the other week I seen him and was discussing good buckets) but besides P1SS I was thinking today all the times I go to 3 different merchants around here and the prices are always different, got me thinking, also always get that blumming whack place ringing up with crap deals , might be midlife crisis or something, just feel like I'm turning into @stuart23 moaning about cost all time, thought it might good idea

Let me know what stuff you regularly buy and we can stock it all at the Notts depot for you mate.

We also deliver nationwide :-)

It has already been done. Perhaps go niche and stock harder to find products?

Spreaders of Ipswich are a plastering firm that work out of a large unit on an industrial estate, selling plastering goods to trade and public.
i have heard that the huge plaster stockist Penlaws are owned by norfolk drywall ltd.

When do you start :birra:

I think you're one guy on here I would struggle to work with. We would always be drinking talking about Rugby
Your problem with me would be me telling you to back off and let me push them for a better deal. I lived there for 8 years what would I know or do any of your outfit spreachen Deutsch???

Up to you bud I'd like at least a free trail as it were? I'm not aggressive but the Germans are in business etc it won't cost you why not give me try??

Let me see what I can do mate. Our relationships with current German suppliers are very very good. More than business but friendships as well.

No I don't do what I do for free, youre right. But it's not the case of sitting behind a computer, ordering materials, taking orders and sending them out. A lot more to it that that.

Machines vary in price as do materials, depends who you buy from. Yes we make money on things, as you do. It's business.

But, the money involved in owning and running a warehouse, paying staff, all overheads etc makes stocking materials an expensive exercise. People often think merchants make serious money selling plaster and render - trust me, that isn't the case!

I don't fancy spending a week with you, with respect. I did my time labouring on sites for a number of years and there is a reason I do what I do.
