Plasterers and boarders required for new build project in Birmingham

Not necessarily. Down this way tacking, sticking, screeding, and plastering have been largely separate since before I started work in the early 80's.
My old man didn't tack hardly anything his whole career.
Of course I'm talking about proper work, not the domestic only pansies.
Same applies here in Manchester. Most jobs I only tack n dab

Can't imagine how boring it must be just skimming all day every day, or just tacking all day every day.
Here that tends to be on large sites.
Most of my work now is smaller sites of 1 - 5 houses where I get to do the lot.
Fook domestics!

Yeah we tend to take on the whole lot on big one off houses, but most spreads here either won't screed at all, or only very small areas at most.

In the 60s tacking had separated from the trade the site price was low and only attracted labourers who wanted to step up.
British Gypsum had started a dot and dab course but this was not popular as floating was the plasterers highest paid job. Surveyors had not cottoned on to the amount a plasterer could float in a day.
A lot of plasterers did not like floor screeding so they let that go to specialists who could earn good money.

He'd not last till 10 bells along with a good few more of these so called domestic fairies . Ha ha
just admit it pal.....the reason why you're a lowly site slag is because you aren't good enough to get regular word of mouth work on domestics so you had to join the rest of the pretenders on sites who all think they're proper spreads and then come on here tossing their egos off bragging about it ha ha ha
