The last job I was on the builder had a couple of lads about 18 or 19 years old, they were doing a multi skilled qualification/apprenticeship at the college. I think they spent about 8 weeks on each unit, so plumbing 8 weeks, plastering 8 weeks, decorating etc. The one lad was helping me out for a bit, he started off keen and bought some tools but soon lost interest. He said he would try out each trade and see which one he liked the best, and then train in that particular trade.

Did he try it on with you, did you like it?:sisi:

Just had a plumber in on my kitchen job, £2500 to change boiler, half a day it took and he was the cheapest other guy wanted £3500. I worked for a builder once that put silly prices in occasionally he got them, we are talking a grand to overboard and skim a 5x5 ceiling.

I did a kitchen reskim unseen for a guy I work for occasionally and the customer mistakenly gave me all his money too . My £300 plus his £400 for a two and a half bag hit

Labour and materials...

That builder passed me £4000 worth of work, because he was in a rush to complete. Me and my mate got it done in a week, that was 10 years ago now. Never forget it best job I had lol

I think buying a 300 k house for like 20k helps aswell id imagine

But it wasn't worth 300k when they "bought" it and I doubt they "paid" 20k for if

To be fair, most of them left school at 15 and went to work for 45 years.
Yes, their house cost 5 grand ... but many in the 60s earned about 15 quid per week.
Interest rates were usually over 10 and up to 17% in the 80s.

They struggled back in their day make no mistake.

I have made a packet sharing the fruits of boomers bloated pension funds ... I love minted pensioners & they serve a better quality biscuit with an exceptional pot of tea.

Bought my house in 95, paid it off and quadrupled in value.

Just don't ask about my private pension.
