Pva or New grit things

Got some old polystyrene tiles to strip off ceiling and then needs a re skim. If there's any of the old adhesive still on the ceiling:

Is it better to use Pva, 1 coat dry/1 coat tacky and skim. Or use one of the new grit based pre bond stuff?

Or does it not matter?

done plenty of these, knocked off the snots of adhesive pva'd and skimmed as usual :-) shouldnt give you any troubles
 
Although i do agree with oli aswell , as long as it wasnt hiding a **** ceiling . Grit u wud have to go back next day
 
overboard the ceiling. with adhesive on there and good chance that the tiles are hiding cracks it is your best bet.

Wish I could overboard every ceiling I did...make life easy.

Just got a 3 bed house to do, all heavy artex ceilings. I'm gonna blu grit em all........after I've washed all the nicotine off :RpS_drool:.

Creates a uniform substrate to work on, less likely for any of the adhesive residue to react. Holds the suction back nicely too as long as you're not too tight with it.

look for FebBond blue grit. Less than half the price of a thistle Bond it and just as good.

You could have em boarded and skimmed in the time you've pissed around doing all that prep.
