Pva problems

Been having a lot of problems with pva on walls that have had paper removed and reskimming, watered down pva, waited till dry but when skimming plaster separating and sliding. 25 yrs plasterer can't work this one out. Any advice welcome.

Walls have had paper removed but not excess paste!! Wash off with sugar soap before PVA

You are applying the Pva to heavy. Leave it to dry if still stripy put a sponge over it to take off excess Pva.

Yeah, my guess would be too much paste left on the wall, or some old paint on the wall that's preventing enough suction. Paste most likely.

Or throw fine sand into the glue.

paste not removed. Reactivating it as soon as anything with water touches it.

Just sand off paste residue with 80grade on orbital sander as quick then pva.

Other way is to use gardz as will neutralise paste when dry then pva and skim.

giraffe sanders is £100 or cheap orbital from DIY bodged on vacuum but bigger the plate the better. 5 mins a wall is enough to get paste off and bang on the pva.

Wtf you can literally see any paste residue etc soon as you put the first coat of pva on,had it on a hsl last year the pva must of reactivated it I was able to get my spat and scrape it all off the one wall,I sugar soaped it after and the rest of the walls I find ut hard to believe you didn't notice there was a problem while applying the pva

Use a little fine sawdust to soak up paste residue, let it dry and then sand off with 80 grit glass paper (not sandpaper}then go over whole area with organic rhubarb yoghurt. let it soak in and follow on with watered down Almond milk. Never been asked back in thirty years using above method.

Great for white wash or distemper prior to sealing and no worries about plaster adhesion

sound mate I had a scraper at the Time and scraped it, it was like mush thought sound and got my 600mm spat and scraped the lot off the biggest wall on the hall stairs landing it was like thick spunk because of the paste haha

Need to wait longer for pva to go in or wipe off excess with a dry brush!
