I think people have plans to do work straight in the new year but reality is alot get January pay packet before they think they can really afford to pay for it.and same is in February.by march everyone is on it then April u can't get anybody in CUs u two busy...the others are right try to do stuff around your own house or clear out the van while u have time CUs next thing u know u won't have any spare.
It is same for all plasterers...even the ones that say they are busy all the time

We all have them mate, i'm just ticking over at the moment, few jobs here and there....But i use the time to actively seek more work, new business, price jobs work on my site...

Last year i was flat out from march till first week December, so had a bit of money built up to see me through, but running out now so lucky had few mates who are doing kitchens and stuff, and few other bits and bobs....Hopefully business will pick up soon though. Always does :-)

I would never ask a client/customer to pay my lads.your giving the customer a insight of what your mark up is on your guys.it's just not the way to run a business in my opinion.

No i'm not because nothing is broken down on the quote, I get a lump sum at the end that includes all markups made on the lads, the money they give me also includes materials so they have no way of breaking it down. And I stay below the VAT threshold.

Its good business, the way you do it is bad because you have shitload of paperwork, possibly payroll, the headache of employing and you are less competitive because you charge VAT. I have nothing but pure profit and no paperwork and I can say bi bi to anybody that pisses me off whenever I like.

you can only ask a private customer to piss about paying your workforce. no company would do that. the next tlme the customer will employ your labour, supply their own material, a feck you off.
it sounds like you are all flash and no cash!

That ain't going to happen and all my work is private, don't bother working commercial to much hassle for not enough reward.

Sometimes you come out with stuff that makes sense to me, and gets me thinking you might actually have something going on up there.
But then you go and ruin it all by posting that waffle above.
