RATES

I know this has come up a few times on here, and not everyone has the same approach, but I think everyone would agree they charge what they consider a fair wage plus costs. The bit that seems to vary and sometimes get missed out is profit for the company, and every company needs to make a profit to survive and work well.

My (blah blah) point is that as long as you cover everything and make a profit all's well. If you just cover your costs and a low/basic wage the slightest thing can screw the job and maybe take the business under. How that profit is worked out is irelevant really, add a percentage, add time, use a machine but price for hand applied, it's all the same.
See what you saying ,you are right (again :muyenojado:) ..also can see there are so many different types of plasterers on here I.e domestic,site,m2 site, companies or people that employ a few people that a rate discussion is always never going to be agreed by everyone.

Thanks arti I'm hammered mate lol hail hail you should get over the water most rates are 150 English poonds

Very very tempted! Thinking of Manchester/Liverpool or near it because can get cheap enough flights from knock. Maybe london but heard the rent to crazy there!

Reading this I go back to a earlier thread where we had a discussion and you provided some good advise on how to price. I took that on board and priced a re render posted on here where client cried and I got a bit of abuse for being to expensive! Stuck to me guns though and price is the price.

You didn't get any abuse, i said your price was steep, thats an opinion.

You came out all guns blazing.

Where you getting them rates for plastering. Best I've heard is €150 a day in Dublin at the moment.

In Dublin when I go to it. 170 less your tax is still s**t money. I've no problem asking for 200 in Dublin. And 70 to 80% of the time I'll get it. I've no problem telling them to get someone else. I can ring a plasterer i know wall and get 150 a day off him. But I just won't go to Dublin for that sort of money. If you don't ask you don't get. I find you are better off supplying as the client hasn't got a clue what you're Makin.

But I notice that you never mentioned how you charge for an over board with a motor bike in the loft how the fcuk you work that one out

J ,
May be there is just not as much competition where you are as say the midlands north with prices ?

It's a lot of up upheavel and uncertainty for an extra 35 quid a shift. If you had work guaranteed then a good idea but going somewhere new and trying to get your name about is tough.

Bristol mate.
Plenty of comp down here

And Tesco's ...I park it in there on Sundays when I go pub with mrs.

full of s**t because you didn't like to read it.

nobody abused you, stop playing the victim, you jumped on my post like a dog on heat.

my explanation was pretty valid, you were the only one to disagree.

I know what your saying but its very easy to price yourself out of a job in this country! I haven't heard of anyone on 200 odds a day yet anywhere in the country and I know a few plasterers working in dub, Belfast, mayo, galway etc.. Good on ya if your getting it thou. Was getting that money on the stonework last year but that was just a lucky touch because they couldn't get masons who were legit.

Here where I am, you just guarantee work for that long. To many tradesmen all scraping for the work and there just ain't enough to go around. Ffs look at one of my threads awhile back, I was priced out of a 145m wall , scratched, napped, bellcast and pillars every 3 meters. The squad doing it priced it at 4-5€ a sq meter. That's what I'm up against. If we can get 150£ upwards across the water where I mentioned for a year, I'd go. Just waiting on my uncle (35 year plastering) coming home from NZ in few months and might just head across the big pond with him seeing that's where hell probably end up .

Straight onto pof.com to find some lonely milf or single parent to look after me while I'm there lol.

Straight of the boat mate there all slags all pudlians or dirty Manc sluts the further north you get there sluts but just get fatter but you go south and that fat shite you've just had shouting in you're ear slowly starts turning into something a bit thinner and a bit classier and the money gets better and the temperature gets warmer and the people get cuntier ........

I fully agree with you. And tbh I do price my slef out of work. But am a lazy c**t and don't care. I had a bloke ring me a few weeks ago. And just by the tone of his voice I could tell her was tight. I just said to him he is ringing the wrong man that he can't afford me. He told me to f**k off lol. I had a good night's sleep that night.

And you're poor fathers still up the mines and you're mother makes you socks out of old tea bags do you still tell the kids to save the orange people so you can squeeze it all together to have a game of football and still have a something to eat for supper?

I'm going pub anyway ladies.

jordan if you go and say abuse in the mirror 3 times at midnight, jimmy savile will come out and fook you, (yes i speak from experience)

spunky lovely to see you, but your jokes are about as funny as fooking your mother with the lights on

No mate full of s**t because you said a hack off a hack off whether it's 2 or 4 coats.
Aswell as giving an 'estimate' of 4K without labour [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]
Then forgetting that I priced for all plastic renewal and you didn't mention this.
So full of s**t because you tried to compare your price to mine.

Also full of s**t because you had no idea what the job entailed and made assumptions

Also full of s**t because the thread was about a client who'd had a cheap job and would cost more to fix but felt the need to comment on my price.

Also full of s**t because your just full of s**t

A hack off is a hack off to a customer, how many fooking laps of a property do you do.

I compared 130m2 which I'm sure 90% of renderers could supply materials and access for rendering for £4K.

Now you asked why your customer starting crying when you quoted her £10-£12 k to mono her house forget the plastics.......... Do you want a clue

I live and work in the second largest City in the UK, I have no idea how many building firms, plasterers, electricians, plumbers etc there are in Birmingham but suffice to say there are sh1t loads. Most of them are all engaged in the 'race to the bottom' with their prices, along with a large number of cash in hand beer money merchants and cheap labour from abroad etc.

My prices are way higher than the cheapest by an order of magnitude, and a fair bit higher than average. I don't have any problem getting work. So price isn't the only factor in getting work. You name any product or service and you'll be able to buy a cheap version and an expensive version.

I would suggest that anyone working in a manual trade which is hard on your body and takes years to become good at should be finding and using all the methods they can to earn as much as possible.

In all fairness Mac you probably are right but f**k me I don't think I've ever heard of anyone selling our 400000 sheds and retiring up north even on the telly man !
'Hi this is Susan and Geoff from southern England they've decided to sell their 600000 pound house and move to Doncaster' ...........

I I'm not on about materials though am I.
You made out the job was worth 4K

Then said you could do the labour for 2.5k
Your a gimp if you'd do that for that price.

An if you explain a hack off from a hack off to client they understand.

If they say it's all the same I'd walk away.
Sounds like you'd then offer to do it for nowt.
