That really is one of those times when it was as easy to do a good job as a bad one.

I hope it's your house you're working on?

Wouldn't have taken you half an hour to key into the existing block work.

Yes it is. The blocks were being rendered so as long as it was level and plumb there’s no issue with the looks of it.
there was a window there and I changed it to a door l, hence the cut out in the cladding and blockwork. All I want to do now is render it and find out the best way forward. I’ll just do a slurry and then render as usual so it’s fine. (Which was my plan anyway before even posting this so it’s been a complete waste of time)

Are you a bricklayer or a plasterer Luke ?
 
Let’s be honest...nobody has a got a clue have they. Nobody can answer a simple question about rendering celcon blocks so any criticism to do with blockwork that’s being covered by render is going over my head. To be on a plastering forum and out of 30 people only 2 can provide an answer makes me believe there’s no point taking any of the comments on board as nobody seems very experienced on here.

Least our houses ain't got the potential to fall down. I dress to think the end result of that s**t. I can't imagine a plasterer could give such little attention to the detail and allow himself to do that poor a job tbh.

Tbh mate you had some good advise at the beginning from a few people! But ya got all defensive over that picture calling every one meter monkeys like you do In all your threads, if you have done that job from the beginning it just shows you have had no clue from the start what you are doing You dont even have the basic knowledge to render a wall, ya f**k**g cowboy

basic knowledge of rendering a wall? Scratch coat, top coat. There’s the basic knowledge.
2 people gave me advise.
I didn’t get defensive over the photo.....I made a point that nobody had any idea how to answer the question. That doesn’t mean I’m being defensive. That means nobody on here has much experience which is fair enough. Busy plasterers wouldn’t spend their time on forums talking to people they don’t even know or will never meet and I shouldn’t have bothered asking as I already had the best idea before even asking.

Ok, please explain how that extension could possibly fall down.
please answer as I want to see you embarrass yourself so please answer.

jusy before you answer let me explain. The wall on the photo is non load bearing, the brickwork is tied to the joists of the roof, the brickwork is strapped with rigid steel strapping, so again, tell me how it will fall down. Thanks

I didn't say it would fall down, I said it was a horrendous bodge and by the time you'd f**k*d around buying and installing your bizarre reinforcement system which may or may not work, you could have actually done it properly.

Which bizarre reinforcement are you talking about? Galvanised straps being used for their purpose?
Over the years I’ve seen plenty of doorways blocked or bricked up without being tied in the way you suggest.
you answered my question about why would it fall down by saying because it’s a bodge.
so I’m asking structurally how it would fall down.....is this another question you don’t have the brains to answer :)
