Fairly new to rendering, have only ever done a few small areas before. I can plaster to an ok standard, so I'm hoping that will help me a bit.
I'm going to be tackling rendering my porch and I was wondering if anyone had any advice on my approach.
I'm planning on using a 6:1:1 sand:cement:lime mix.
I have lots of 5mm squared 160g fiber glass render mesh, I was thinking of embedding in to the base coat for a bit of added strength.
Also thinking of using a toothed trowel to get the correct depth.
I'm wondering how to tackle around the windows. I believe some people use a technique with wood batons. I was wondering if I could just put some beading on? If so I was wondering which beading would be best, and the best way of fixing it.
Also there's a section that's just a stack of header bricks next to the window, it seems like a potential weak spot where frost would get behind. I was wondering if it would be ok to just put a stop bead on the outer side.
Appreciate any advice.
