plasterer/plasterer/tiler.. weird mix, but did it all under apprentiship..

why is scaff never set out right for spreads .perfect for painters but not us.whould like to know cassie cheers m8

Does it not pay as well as plastering? Sounds easier on the body........

easier ?? no way mate, plastering a lot easier on the body than scaffolding.. different stresses, but scaffolding hard work.. pay is the same really... earnt a lot more scaffolding on shutdowns etc, but about the same rates..

thing is mate, trhe scaff wont really know what you want unless you explain, they will generally make the scaffold 5 boards wide with one inside board, they will erect it how you want, but you gotta tell them what you want..

yeh..lol... supervising is a decent job, the inspection bit is usually done by an adv scaffolder, hard to get a job just inspecting, but yeh, both are easier than throwing long about all day.. 9 long is a 21ft tube ) for educational purposes..lol

Thats mandotary to fuk the plaster up..lol.. actually the tube should be cut off level with the boards... or extended above head height...

Not down here it's not.**** dollar.

are remember that m8 that next time cut the pole or are cut ur throat .happy days:RpS_thumbsup:

You cant cut your throat mate the tube should be extended above head height, suppose ya could if you stood on something and took a jump at it..lol

why? do they use Ali tube ? lol... a 21ft steel tube weighs 65 lb approx... theres a fair few of them slung about mate, plus all the other tube, tons of gear are lifted every day.. very hard on the shoulders, back etc...

handy to know that,
whats the regs on aluminium poles, I know you cant use them as standards but can you use them as braces or handrails?

Ali can be used for the full scaffold mate, no probs using them for standards, you dont mix ali and steel 9 except for fixing ali handrails, you can start off from the base with steel , then carry on up with ali, but cannot start out with ali, then carry on up with steel, as long as the bay and lift heights are adhered to, ali is as strong as steel ( minimal difference )

The scaff Guru......................:RpS_thumbup:

lol.... never thought about it before, but its handy to be able to ask a question if needed... maybe danny will do me a scaff guru T shirt..lol... and you think we argue about speedskim/s*p*r*lex.... dont get me started on titanium spanners...lol..

ah ok. I got told you cant use ally anymore because ally is weaker in the cold, sub zero.

is kwick stage scaffolding the equivalent of a 3 day plastering course to time served plasterers. :RpS_laugh:

They don't use Ali any more Owls cos its to easy to nick and worth a lot more than Galv, and all Scaffs are divs.

I only mentioned it, because I have a load of ally poles that I could use, but yep I take your point about em getting nicked easier

Thinking of buying some scaffold this year, is there any qualifications you need for say scaffolding a two bed semi for your own work?

for every system scaffold..ie, cuplock, quickstage, layher.. you need the CISRS card to officially erect it, takes a minimum of 2 years to obtain the basic card

It is worth more than galv, but not that much, and you would need a lot of weight and a wagon to move it and make it worthwhile nicking, you should mention to the scaffolders that you reckon their divs mate... or maybe on second thoughts...lol

you have to have 6 months proven scaffolding labourer experience, then do a 2 week part 1 course, you go back on site for a min 6 months, then go back and do your part 2 course 2 weeks, then back on site min 6 months, then back for a 1 day assesment.. you have to obtain certain proven criteria during this phase, your part 2 is the basic scaffold card and allows you to erect independents ( which is what you would be doing ) towers... no cantilevers, hangers etc... however.. you wouldnt get employment with a scaffold firm without the basic card, but by law, to scaffold you must be '' competant person '' so.. you could with no cards scaffold your own jobs for rendering etc, but if anything happens with the scaffold and you havent got the CISRS card your fuked..

just another thing stuart... i would recommend if you have the time and money ( each course is 2 weeks off work and about 1,200 quid)... to do the training... it has to be done really, as some major **** can happen if scaffold goes wrong,
