priced up a job today new extension. the guy wants shadow gap beads round all doors and skirting levels. not used these before do they go on the sheets then sheets screwed on ? any pointers appreciated

Just done aload on big house. Many types so make sure u get right ones. You can get floating or drywall ones.
i would board first. then stick beads day before skim. I pinned a few on dot dab walls and they kept pinging out.

No thats not them. Your ones just cover the edge of.the board.
these ones create a recess between the plaster and the door frame.

Yes I realise they would be very time consuming, but if priced right they would be OK to do. How long does it take you to bead around a door frame on dot and dab for example?

i have saw the beads before just never had a chance to use them. they look time consuming though

Same as beading a window really. Skirting lines are the pain. If floor or boards out then it can be frustrating

On doors etc i cut straight the uprights are overlapped with a mitre so no chance of gap between beads.

We used shadow gap beads on a house a while ago. It was specced for along the bottoms as no skirting was going on and the floor hadn't even been laid yet. The floorer was moaning like hell that they were out by a few mill.. The builder who we were working for set timbers on the wall to set out boards on then we fitted the beads after. He spent ages with a laser level as well. We told the floorer to fûck off.. Said he should have set the timbers for us to work off. Couldn't lay the floor till after as it was going to overlap the bottom of the shadow gap beads. Customer was a pain in the arśe as well.

I did a job on the sea front all shadow float beads for 100 mm upstand. Round door linings we got chippy to rebate so they spotted in nicely.Lazard the rest looks mustard, we charged a linear meter price
