I have found when its hard to work out a price is to try to work out how long it will take me, divide that by a day rate and see how it stacks up.

Example - 200m2 of work, lets say £15 a meter = £3000

Then I look at it and guess at how long it will take.

Lets say I reckon 9 days at £150 a day, per man, for a 2 man team.

That comes in at £2700

I would say that £15 per m2 is about right in this case.

Some jobs are naughtier than others though, just doing the reveals on a full house can account for a full days work.

And even though most builders think fairies come in at night and put all the beads on for you, we know that is not the case, you can spend the equivalent of a full day just beading up a full house, whether its internal or external.

Apparently the midnight goblins put scrim on too :)

thanks mate thats all i wanted to know ;)

the walls are about 100 meters long an they dont want to look down then and see waves, its gota be spot on mate, dont wana take any chances. you know what builders are like when it comes to pickin up the cash of em ::)

any sugestions of a price per meter?

100m long? have you priced in expansion joints?

no mate av never done an external job this size before, what do i do for them an how much do i charge extra for doing it?

to be honest kirk you need to know what they are for and where they go before you know how much to charge. There is a search part at the top of the page put in "expansion joint" and have a read.

will do, cheers mate

;D ;D OUCH that hurt :D :D..........You might wanna get a pro plasterer to give you a hand on the job, just too learn a bit more on the rendering side of things, money well spent in my opinion.

just never done a render this size before, have any of you guys ever done 1000 meters ov smooth render, the most i did was 2meters on my one week course :D cum on you got to admit its a lot to do if you are only used to doing 3/4 bed houses.

Kirk ya gotta look at the drawings again coz 100m long seems F*****g massive, times that by the height holy s**t.

SLIGHT EXAGERATION MATE THEY ARE ABOUT 70 METERS LONG, MATE NO s**t THIS IS A MASIVE JOB ITS GOT A MASIVE COURT YARD WITH A 2,1/2 METER HIGH WALL ROUND IT THAT NEEDS DOING ASWEL BUT THAT WILL BE LATER ON IN THE YEAR, LIKE I SAY AV JUST NEVER DONE ANYTHING THIS BIB BEFORE AN JUST WANTED SUMEONE TO GIVE ME A ROUGH IDEA HOW TO PRICE IT BUT EVERYONE SEEMS TO BE JUST TAKIN THE PISS OUT OF ME? SUPOSE YOU GET LITTLE GOBSHITES EVERYWHERE YOU GO THOUGH DONT YOU. HAHA ;D

Take no notice of the abuse kirk just use the valuable info ;) Best advice i was ever given on large areas of render was to get your scratch coat as flat as possible then the hard work has been taken out similar to float and set you wouldn't expect to straighten out the wall with skim, plus just before you sponge flatten in with your trowel it closes it in much better and takes any high spots out of the equation.

There are a few on here who constantly wind people up and take the piss wether its about their lack of skill, their stupid questions or daft haircuts but all in jest take it with a pinch of salt, if you dont you will look like a complete plonker or a soft arse, there is plenty of good advise and there is the search part i told you about, plenty of information in there.

you need to conisider how much you can do in a day + how much you need to earn/day how many days your gonna spend beading, the cost of another spread because areas that big are gonna be a f**k*r to do 1+1. + a % for unforseen circumstances

tbh honest for works this big your gonna struggle to get it right an secure it against established firms who tender this kind of work week in week out.

where is it anyway ive not seen anything that big goin up round liverpool/cheshire/north wales

andy do you want to answer this one hahah

Well I must admit I get a bit nervous every time I put on more than 10m2 at a time ::)
10, 100 or 1000m2 it's all the same really isnt it? The only time really large areas are a pain is when they get over three storeys high because I don't like to see horizontal joints. I can top coat about 50m2 or so a day even without a labourer, and you will always, well almost always have come to an expansion joint by then.
As for three coats, well the block work would have to be a disgrace before I'd need a third coat it to get it straight.
Was that two sugars Kirk? And stop dropping so much you messy c**t or I won't sweep up after you again.

if you have any doubts at all about doing large areas just make sure you put a good gauge of water repellant in the scratch coat... this will enable you to put loads of top coat on without worrying if it takes up to quickly to handle... or have a good bloke rubbing up behind you...
the price is up to you simple.... how much can you do a day and what wage will you be happy with... I never ever do OWT FOR NOWT... I charge accordingly but fair industry prices this is what the spons guide price is per m2 for 2 coat render 18mm thick supply and fix over 300mm = £12.44 per m2 under 300mm £5.09 this book is 2 years old though... so i think £15.00 per m2 labour only if its on your doorstep would be a great price + £2.00 per lm for sticking your beads.
