I feel a bit lost... last year I was training for my 1500 mile cycle trip and this year I am not training for anything and well its doing my head in...

Ok :-) So next year I plan on running a marathon :-)

I am the sort of person that needs to set goals :-)

What charity should I do it for?

I am more than happy for Help For Heroes but would be interested to see what you guys would like to support :-)

Danny

When I read the thread heading there Dan, I thought "I bet he's gonna do that feckin mad flying thing that airborne posted" lol.:RpS_scared:
Cancer research, British heart foundation?? Dare say most members have other charities that have some personal meaning to them?:-)

My wife does the race for life each year, cancer is always a worthy cause.

What about a parachute jump, or a bunjee into a pool of s*x starved alligators.

Dogs trust, any animal charity really. So many worthy things, from children to the old, sickness . I am mostly into helping animals myself..

I think i will struggle to run it let alone with a fridge :-)

A parachute jump is not really a challenge :-) I need something to focus on :-)

Just need to work out how to go about it now :-)

Jump without a parachute...nothing like impending death to sharpen ones focus.

Enter the Ironman event...thats a challenge to end all challenges....they do them all over the world, and the UK.

Ill be 42 now in may...dont act like it mind haha.

One thing i learned is that it dont take long to lose your fitness if you dont train, and that road back can be a killer...especially the older you get.

Keep it up mate...the training that is :RpS_biggrin:

I have been a bit lazy this year... I hit the gym pretty hard and bulked out nicely then got a sick and lost a rake load of weight and then went and got measured for a suit for my mates wedding... now got to stay the same size for a few more weeks and then its back in the gym :-)

I was very fit until 2010 then got dengue fever and never been the same since

My interest comes from kickboxing in my teens, and just being interested in training for that and other martial art.I made a mistake of doing a body builders type program and spent years adapting what i needed instead of the typical training to build muscle.I found if you want to move fast, being bulky aint such a good idea, and ideally any muscle growth was the result of pragmatic training.

The reason i say all that is if you do stamina type events like marathons im surprised you go to the gym to bulk out.

On holiday when you caught that fever ?.

Well I personally hate running :-) So my training will have to change a bit :-)

I use to do a lot of running when I was at school but it bored me... but a marathon is on my bucket list so thats what i gotta do :-)

Sprinters are very bulky.... long distance runners are bean polls...lol

i do not think that all this running is very good for you.
there is a local man who was always running races, he is now in poor shape, all this keeping fit has really fecked him up.

Danny why dont you skim a wall in 1 house in every town/city from one point to another, maybe from yours upto Newcastle :RpS_thumbsup:

Of course yeah...right starting to understand where your at.

What weight and height are you mate ?....hahahaha...sound like i'm measuring for a coffin...I'm 5'7 and 12 stone on the button...thats overweight for me..man boobs and gut aint the best look. The heaviest ive been is 13 stone...awful..so much out of shape...lightest..10st 3lb...nice fighting weight, but i looked ill haha.

I like to hover around the 11st mark, but 10st 8lb is a good healthy weight for me.

I'm at that stage now where i think about training, but make excuses up not to, and keep putting it off...its much tougher to start up again and get motivated when you reach your 40ts.

5'10 , 16st, was 12.5 at 17 , could do with been lighter, but worked with 22 st men on the doors a few years back, " one guy used to say to me, I knocked this little man out john, small like you or maybe just a little bigger"

yeah I have broad shoulders and when I hit the gym I bulk out pretty quick :-) Got a bit of a gut on me at the moment not much but still there :-)

Danny

I remember reading somewhere that a good physique is won in the kitchen not the gym.I think thats certainly true where stomach fat is concerned.

I stopped eating junk food today, the usual biscuits ,crisps etc...beer is the killer though...wont be giving that up anytime soon.

I think if i eat healthy i can enjoy my beer more and not feel so guilty.
