Speedskim question...

Have to agree Danny, it's ideal for flattening bondin over artex. The problem with the speedskim obviously lies with the original claim about meterage, and they have now conceded that was a false claim. But to be honest it's like most advertising, lynx body spray claim it will attract woman! No it won't lol, isotonic sports drinks make you a better footballer ! Not doesn't lol. It depends what you believe when a product is advertised. I said it on another thread.... Dont believe the hype:RpS_thumbup:
...
...oh and yes I still use lynx and drink sports drinks...
And still can't get a bird! And I'm still shiit at football:RpS_laugh:

true. but itd be a different story if youd bought a machine or something and it didnt do what it said

but id you edge render then run the speedskim over to close it in it takes alot of the floating up out of it just makes it that bit easier.

artisan the weathers fine down here i think its even goin to hit 13 next week, bit chilly this week but looking up next week

i just find the speedskim a bit easier to close it in with nice and lightweight and just sails over it.

lets all be honest here its all about personal preferance (9 times out of ten it comes down to this haha) some people prefer different methods and as long as the work is pukka then its all good

i didnt mean you deliberately targeted dim people, but if someone genuinely thought they were gonna double their output then i dunno, theyre no the brightest and i feel if someone bought on that promise then it was a bit unfair.

my point is that yeah it has its uses. its an aright tool. not my cup of tea because personally i dont see the point in flattening my first coat etc. its something iv never done. i said a lot of the things your now saying re meterage etc when you first came on here and i got a bollocking. i appreciate you have 30yrs experience, but then that should have helped you in realizing and promoting your product for its true abilities. but fair play for admitting you were wrong on some parts.

as i said for spray skim i get it, skim i get it yet not for me, ruling off..... seriously. i know your going by what some people have said. but maybe try and get some normal people to review it. you cant "rule" a backing coat to an accurate flat surface with something that is designed to be flexible and bends. its just common sense. but if people want to use it for that then thats up to them, but it shows what plastering is coming to.

other than that mate i really dont care who uses it or whatever, im just baffled there is still discussion and arguments going. its just a piece of plastic with a handle. its not a miracle tool. it flattens skim and can close in render. i dont no what else there is to say.

Cheers mate

we have missed you you know..:flapper:

Its good that the double you're metreage has been put to bed and thanks for saying fair play :-) The thread itself is quite old now but Speedskim continues to be a tool that Plasterers want to know more about. The reason is a lot of guys are using now and finding it makes their life so much easier. You're 100% right Nick, its not a miracle tool and its not for everyone.

From our point though we are being very honest with whatever we say. One thing we have learned is to make sure we know what Speedskim can do rather than what we hope it can do. That's whats been good about the last 12 months.

Feedback from customers is that it leaves the plaster lovely and flat, you dont have to chase yourself around the room and it takes the effort out, and they are all normal. If I had a pound for every phone call or email saying how much easier and less effort it all is I wouldn't be a millionaire but I'd be able to have good night out...

Scott, can the blade be changed on the original versions?

No mate - unfortunately not. We changed the design because for a couple of reasons - 1, to cure a problem because a few units suffered from blade warping and 2, we thought it was better for the Plasterer if it got damaged or worn they could simply swap...

Take it you've got one of the older models is it worn or something?

Yeah. It's still in good order it's just so I know when it does get a bit tired. No worries. I'll be ordering a 600 and pole attachment this week. Thanks for replying!

ive used it for ruling off limelite does the job stops it dragging then again its a lot lighter than hardwall i dont use it as much now for skimming use my plazziflex

No worries mate - you're welcome, we will be putting a special offer up for TPF members this week (had to wait for our payment request system to be modified to include the new pole attachment and pro sets) The 600 plus pole attachment will be included in the offer :RpS_thumbup:

1200 speedskim and pole attachment best price delivered please :)

Hi mate - sorry for delay in replying, will be putting a thread up tomorrow hopefully with a 'winter warmer' offer for TPF members. The Speedskim's are very reasonably priced at the moment especially 'sets' so I think what we'll be doing is free shipping etc.

So if you want a 1200 plus pole attachment I think you are looking at £42.99 inc vat and shipping (usually £48.99 inc shipping)

I would wait till tomorrow though to see the full picture...

The prices will be very good and exclusive only to TPF members through the pm system- it will run for 7 days UK mainland addresses only:RpS_thumbup:

How come you dont do a speedskim in an 80cm ??? Seems to be a popular size with other spatulas the 120 is great but somtimes can be a little too large for some walls and the 600 isnt that much larger than a 18 or 20 inch trowel, just wondering thats all, really like the speedskim looking forward to giving the ss blade try once there up for sale.

Hi Rik - formerly Rob, friend of Rupert :RpS_unsure:

Thanks for the post, we may do an 800 at some stage - keep you posted on that and its good to get this kind of feedback.

We will give a few finishing blades out when they are up and running. Glad the Speedskim is doing the trick mate :-)
