You'll need one if you ever get a proper gauge on hun
I can run it over any time from straight after putting on without taking loads off. It's all about the angle and pressure, just like ruling anything off.You have to be bang on with timing, theres a sweetspot where it flattens in very nice and takes nowt off. too soon it takes it off too late drags
So would I be correct it perceiving that you're not overly impressed with the Speedy?

Yeah I go in fits and starts of using it. It has been quite handy on the dreadful carpentry we're on at the moment. Obviously it won't straighten stuff out like a proper rigid rule, but it does help.Lol...not massivley andy!
Like most new things for plastering have there uses but could live without!
Why that mate?U cant use a speedy if your a 1 coat monkey..fact
dnt tell me your a 1 coat monkey andy? Just takes 2 much off..works lovely 2 coated..i dnt get all this 1 coating as it dsnt save time and know matter what any1 says its a shitter jobWhy that mate?

No I don't one coat, but I have.
I did three houses about fifteen years ago, all one coated. This was back when it said "apply one 2mm....." on the back of the bags. On was on an award winning development and I can assure you that the finish achieved was as good as when two coating.
I only stopped doing it as I just preferred the two coat system, that might have been different if I'd had a Speedy back then.
Dont tell me the man whos got the yorkshire market and mrs jones living rooms is a 1 coat sponging monkey...Seen some c**t 1 coat infront of me before. He sponged it too. Might have been zombie.
He went around all the reveals putting em on, all the joints filling em out. By time he started putting it on I was laying mine down.
1 coating is just lazy..Fair play mate, you went black but came back.
Your point about what it says on the bag is interesting. They since changed that to to 2 coats. Why do you think they changed it? because 1 coat doesn't work sufficiently.
Sorry mate but you're just plain wrong. If there had been any problems in those three houses I would definitely have got to hear about it. I was on the same site for twelve years and no one, including the decorator, ever knew that those plots were one coated. That was also on a mix of board and S&C floating. No TWO ways about it. 1 coat is rough.
Even if you master it to look nice before you leave the country, it will still crack

I'd say yes. As I said, I prefer to two coat but also know that a great finish can be achieved one coating.Wrong that 2 coats is better than 1?
It was just that the wording confused people. What BG meant was apply one monolithic 2mm coat. They just didn't think that they needed to mention that it should be applied in two coats.Fair play mate, you went black but came back.

Finish is one thing but structural integrity is another. Theres no way 1 coat can be better than 2. I'm sure the finish can look at good, but it won't be as strong.
Couldn't 1 coat it would feel all kinds of wrong. I like laying down the 2nd coat, what's the process, do you have to lay it down thicker and get on it quicker.
So you dub out all the areas that need a thicker coat and 1 coat it. So it's not 1 coating per say.I think lay 1 thick coat and sponge or the one I seen filled everything out like beads and joints etc like the yanks do before painted, then 1 coat. so much faffin but each to their own
