Grand I am telling you its the best skimming I have ever seen. They did 2 very larg rooms for me and there is not a single blemish or fault with either room.

I can honestly say it is the best there is

yeah skimmin it would but rich is on about the s*p*r*lex from refina, 40inches long and you can get a pole attatchment to do ceilings off the floor

They are excellent plasterers and perfectionists. They did a large house in k rend last year near my parents place which was a very complex job... you should see it, everytime i drive past i slow down to look !!!.

i no what u mean now steve, only ever seen a vid of one used once.
Id stick to a trowel to be honest.I owuldnt wanna be lugging a 40" spat around i can tell ya.

the only reason id use one is for the first trowel over. just to flatten it down. didnt think they'd be any good for finishing off but according to rich they are

I just been looking at them again on refina site,i still prefer the hand held type,i bet u can control the amount of pressure you need better also youl be closer to ceiling so can see what ur doing better.
Also if you lay the gear on with stilts youl be on off on off.If you gotta use a spat surely its better to be closer to the ceiling then of a pole??

Oasis ....... heres a vid to watch of a guy on a ceiling using a spatula.

blokes G** hes wearing gloves i dont know a real plasterer who wears gloves.......although he has got my bolle safety specs on lol.......and hes at full stretch...bet his arms ache...why doesnt he adjust his stilts to 6 inch short of head to ceiling.............i still cant see the point of this spat flattening etc........i have been using me 18inch marsh trowel works just as well same speed............and as for sponges..........nah ..........dirty horrible things...and if u use one then you WILL get dependent on it....which is never good.

I allways wear gloves Phippsy, but then I'm now a real fisherman not a real plasterer ;) I've also been using a sponge/carpet float for many years but have never become dependant on it, it's just another part of the armoury.

sorry im not gonna be swayed on this andy....every tyime ive worn gloves ive got lime burns...as for sponges.........no lol.......ive never needed one unless ive well over cooked it....i know im using it at the wrong time by what people are saying on here....but then again if it aint one coat i wouldnt get it out the van...and if i do ...im running to the van to get it if u know what i mean lol................
but..........
i have been known to use it on multi on really (french word)ed up renovation jobs where flatness isnt an issue

Andy i didnt know you were a homosexual sorry to offend ;D tight lines mate & stop eating your boilies

just read your post steve and they finished up skimming today ......
do u think spats will work over hardwall ok

dont get me wrong rich i know guys who trowel up mp75 with spats and finish is second to none but i do not see the advantage on skimming it aint quicker i maybe stuck in my ways but ive never been thrown off a job

reckon they would be, there real light as well , if your on stilts then you would be able to flatten a ceiling a lot quicker and its going to be nice and flat because of the size of spat.

what if the boards are (french word)ed and i thought you didnt flatten cause you.re so good

that is one of the joys of sponging the multi matey told me it evens out the gear over bad boarding. The 2 rooms that they worked on have now dried out and are a perfecc uniformed pink colour and very flat.
