Sorry Lee but I disagree. Some stabilisers are water based and some like the Jewson version I recommended are solvent based. Even back in the day when I did acres of Artexing I still thought their stabiliser was rubbish compaired with the solvent based versions.

Yes your right there is water & solvent based mate & ive used both, but for plastering onto on a domestic job my choice would be the water based for the quick drying time :RpS_thumbup: they still do the same job :-)

What does it do to sort out distemper?

The Jewson gear will soak right into distemper and solidify it Spunky, trust me it's good gear. You do then need to use PVA for adhesion or you could take out a loan and get a few bags of Uni finish lol

Cool chears Andy I'll look into it next time I very rarely come a cross it tbh, does the water based stuff still work or is it a confidence in rather using the wicked stuff?

The only water based stabiliser I've used is the Artex one and I didn't rate it. Mind you that was about twenty years ago so they may have changed it.

F*****g clueless yammy eh andy?

I've only really used the wickes one. Dunno if it's water based or not, stinks like **** and gives me a headache.

Thing I have noticed though, its that if you put it on something and skim it a day or two later it seems less effective. Anyone noticed that?

waddling all over her haha :RpS_lol: sorry funny mental image of a fat man trying to get near her but his belly keeps getting in the way:RpS_thumbup:
