Strammit

Ok, so may have a job doing a bathroom refurb and customer mentioned straw walls which suggests Stramit. House late 80’s, so from what I know, this kind of confirms the likelihood.

From what I can gather, there is no studwork with these walls, just the stramit butted up to each other to create whatever length wall. I think there is usually a sole and head timber fitted.

Anybody any experience with this?

Stramit board was used on party walls. We floated and skimmed the walls. It was fitted on a timber on the base with another on the ceiling. 60s building method in Suffolk.
I have screeded Stramit board on flat roof buildings.

Thanks malc. Am I correct in there’s no vertical studs? Did it come later on with Pb bonded to it, or is that done after it’s fitted?

Yes

Don’t think so. Wish it was paramount tbf, as at least it’s prob easier to deal with.
I did do a search on here and there’s a similar thread, and someone seems to think it’s good for taking fixings. Dunno!
I did a quick search and it seems that there are different thicknesses for different systems. Some as thick as 60mm, some just like standard board.
