Transit Custom

Who on here has got a Transit custom? I've bit the bullet and bought one. Are you happy with them? Fuel economy good?
I've done nearly 200k miles in the T5 so it's time to give her early retirement and i'll throw a few quid at it and convert it into a camper as a little project.
I'm all ears. Cheers

I got one. Love it. Fuels ok not great but better than my 55 plate tranny. Quiet. Nice to drive. A full load doesn't affect the handling. I am used to old pigs though!

Went and looked at them a couple of weeks back and got one priced up for my lad, build quality was poor, going for a T6 instead, going from a VW I reckon you'll regret it.

To be honest I wanted another VW but they're mega money for a good spec. The Old van was just a base model. After that I wanted something with bells and whistles. You're right though I know it won't be as good.

Nice one , note better feeling than new van, looked and test drove the tranny before ended up getting vivaro... Tbh think they pretty similar,in the back of swb on both I took 8x4 down to check can get them in standing upright the tranny with curved back door just slipped it in.. Lwb on both no problem,

Will you be doing van video review? That would be good to see mate

Short. 8x4 no problem. Racked it out myself. I would've loved a vw but I couldn't warrant the extra 10k for similar spec.

Any pics @Pug i was thinking of doing my own racking too. s**t with joinery though. I'm a one trick pony :(

Vw is over rated well over rated. Had a few of them nothing special and come with there problems. It's all about luck buying a van. Makes me laugh when I here 10k more for a vw it's a joke. And I feel like a right dickhead for buying them in the past tbh. I now have a vivaro 230000 on the clock had f**k all problems. My mate has the same van and it's a piece of s*** he has spent a fortune on it. It's just luck. My brother bought a new vw Transporter this year and he had gearbox problems. It was f**k**g funny when he phoned me to ask for a van. And I'd say i was the last c**t he wanted to ring. As I told him that they where over rated. But no he had to buy one. Nice van tho lol

Nah, that would last all of a week before we thought f**k it. I don't get dirty anyway everything goes on the wall :D

Lucky yous I have an 03 dispatch, with over 200k on it
Auld boss had a new transit, nice van, though I never drove it. reminds me of vw. Next wagon I get I'd like it to be a vw although it would be older ones for I'd rather not getting into HP, would want it out right if poss though restricts me a fair bit lol

I've got one on order as fed up racking the miles up on my landy so I can now spend the time and effort doing my landy up mint while using the tranny for work. I've got one on hire at the mo and it's great I love it but not as much as my landy. I nearly went thro windscreen in the tranny when I pressed the brakes I'm not used to them lol plus can only drive tranny wearing trainers as my boots touch pedals at same time

Good stuff greg! I'm stripping the old van down and building it back up mint. It'll run another 100k yet (y)

I love my landy as most of you know but I thought f**k it and rang Vanarama and ordered a tranny on 2 year lease then I give it back and get another one. £220 a month road tax etc thrown in yes I don't get to own it but I don't want to. Not everybody's choice and heard my fair share of horror stories when you return them etc but am not arsed I look after my stuff and always have so I won't lose sleep over it

That's wat we will be doing after a couple of more years on our van we will get a lease from vanarama..i cudnt give a monkeys about owning the van as vans lose mega value so id rather drive around in a new van every 3 years than buy a van outright then sell It for 25% of what u paid for it

I bought the T5 10 years ago at £7500. I could sell it for £2-£3k. That's value!

I didn't get much of a choice as they had some euro 5 engine models left so snapped a bargain as the euro 6 engines £280 a month. Got the low roof short wheel base. I have a big ifor williams twin axle braked trailer if I need to shift owt big so I'm happy with my choice and I'm getting it wrapped to protect the paintwork. Owed a favour off a customer who does wrapping
