So i think at wickes , Bonding is now 5.95 standard rate and multi 4.99 i think. So a few pennies change from 11 of our English pounds. So thats a nice £15 mark up on their prices. That is really shocking. If we applied their mark up to applying the gear we could all retire after a couple of years :RpS_w00t:

I think its a loss leader :-)

Wickes sell the plaster cheap but make it back on te other bits you buy along the way :-)

Finish is £5.56 and Bonding £6.95 at wicks ... changed Thurs... 5 bags or more of finish you get for a fiver each ... wouldn't do me any deal on 35 bags of finish other than the above saving

How is it that travis Perkins pwns Wickes yet they charge more than double Wickes??

Yeah its laughable ... had a few calls asking why I don't use my trade account much ... just explained that finish/beads etc are cheaper at wicks who they own, wasn't much of a reply .. only use travis for sound/fire board now but I suppose either way there getting money from me :RpS_lol:

i cnt remember where it was i just went to the closest place i could find i had driven 2 and a half hours to get up there and had another job back here in hertford to do, so another 2 and a half hour journey back before i start my second job, i was in no mood. to make it worse it was students house and absolute shite hole would be a kind way of describing it, plus they locked me out for an hour once i got all me tools in and went to get materials even though i told them i would be back in 20 mins at the longest:RpS_cursing: cu nts the lot of them lazy bunch of dirty scummy little shite bags

A client of mine always supplies the gear and I gave him an order list for materials including 10 pvc 10mm beads. get there and he's got galvanised. not happy using then so off he huffs to Jewson (bear in mind he has a long standing account) they charged him nearly £80 for 10 pvc beads. shocking.

Think about it....founded by a jews son.........

sorry for any offence caused to jews:RpS_blushing:

Last time i went into jews son....£ 4.90 + , for a skim stop bead .
Bout 6 years ago..never been back since...:RpS_thumbdn:

Mint video @Olican ... Only thing I didn't understand was the 3 passes then a polish, after laying in, I go over my work twice with marshal town, job done . . . . Is this a normal thing using these superflexs ?

fair play if you can finish a set in 2 passes, for me it has always been 3 and a "polish" not really a polish its more of a quick flick over checking for misses. cant really call the 4 th pass a rub

Checking for misses after 3 passes mate? All misses are filled after first trowel? I'm not digging by the way mate, your top man for putting a video up for all to see, credit for that.

Never heard of anyone finishing with just two passes. I was 4 with mt and now 3 with s*p*r*lex. each to there own i suppose.

ive got to say john in 20yrs ive never worked with a spread that can finishe a set in 2 passes but fair play if you can...wish I could 4 is the norm for me/ most I know

first pass
second pass inc edges
wet trowel
dry when walls turning

After laying down . . . I twitch corners clean corners and trowel up using no water. Then when ready 2nd trowel only using bit of water if i've left it a bit later but if hit right no water cleaning corner along the way. Dry polish if I'm working for di*k head who likes to touch walls.

fair play john your either red hot or shite!!!

For what its worth I aint suggesting either nor looking fo an argument...like said 20ys and probabley worked with well over 20 spreads some good, some bad, some average, and some terrible but none 2 passes and done.

For what its woth I recon your probbily very good and have just got your set up down to a tee just never seen anyone that clinical personaly!
