It’s time to stand our ground, be strong in the battle , together we can win the war on prices , no longer are we the scum of the earth, if everyone holds firm together these pesticides public runts will have no choice but to pay our fair wage , the last five years bit was a bit of bull but who cares these folks can do one , for the good of the trade and your/our selves let’s kick them all to the curb

Get bloke who did it for 330 back then.

Nice one mate but way too polite.

I get so much s**t on here for being pricey.. yet if they seen my diary and phone messages they’d probably hang themselves. It’s a skilled f**k**g trade and should price accordingly.

I don’t give a f**k about the cheap spreads. What upsets me is cheap DECENT spreads.

Yeah. The answer is just no.

@Vincey why the extra bit about used to be too cheap?

What you used to charge is not relevant.

f**k that s**t. Turning up to a job you know they wanted it cheaper.. they gonna be a nightmare.

The second someone tries to negotiate its game over even if they pay want i want. It’s not a f**k**g carboot sale

That would be my concern too. I wouldn't want to spend more that a couple of quid on materials for a customer who said that, but work is work. It's not easy to come by here in Donegal so I don't turn it away lightly.

In other news.

I have said it for years that I was expensive but that never stopped me from being busy... day work is all well and good but still its a skilled trade

The market dictates to a certain extent the prices local to where you work, However you need to value yourself and your work highly and charge accordingly.
cost of running van, public liability.health and safety, PPE, picking up materials etc. all need to be priced in.
we can never compete with a guy doing sat job with materials borrowed from work but if you use the best materials take your time to leave the best possible job and maybe go the extra mile in cleaning up being polite eg.( not blaring radio out without asking) you will soon get a reputation for being a little expensive but worth it.
Rather than "phone Harry he is cheap"
And throw them old curtains away and buy dust sheets!

Iv gone back on to site to site bash with mono. Said I'd give it an other go. Took on a small site of 48 houses. Doing a plot of 2 3bedroom houses a week. Some plots have 3 3bed houses on them will do them in the same time. Did 2 houses last week with just 2 of us. Had the diesel machine out the Frist day. f**k*d it off and got the ritmo out for the rest. If we a left alone on site as we are so far I'll carry on doing them.

One of probs . More when your starting out in this trade is . Say there a room to be skimmed and a time served plasterer will do it in a day and charge area price say 450. . New kid may take 3 days to do it but wont be able to charge 1350 for it . If that makes sense

Then he will have to charge the 450 and be happy with that the slow c**t!! Kids starting out should not expect or most certainly not be on the same dough as a time served spread!!

Takes me a day and a half and I charge same as a fella who can do it in a day. One day, three days, the job is the same. If I make less than a fellow who can do it in a day, then that's my lookout for being slow.

He means by the day.
Orr get ye. So theres the prob . 450 to be done in a day . So for newbie to get this job he has to really undercut that 450 for customer to be happy waiting 2 more days.
And then again some customer will go for longer time cheaper price others will want it rattling of.

Customer doesn't know how long the job takes. They're only concern is that it goes smoothly.
