Hi

Just getting started in the plastering world and wondering what vans you all have and pro's/con's of having them

My budget would be around 5000. Seen some Transit connects on the trader for around that price. All with between 25-40k on the clock and all 06/07/08 plates. Just wondered if these vans are abit too small

Thanks

good van but if you plan to carry boards then maybe get a slightly bigger van otherwise they are brilliant bar the injectors on the tdci depending on the reg.

My mate who does carpets has a vw transporter. Absolutly solid, and they keep there value well. With the weather in this country you probably don't want to be relying on keeping your boards on the roof so a transit or similar is a good bet.

Same as Casper. For £5000 you may get one 70000 - 80000 2006 if you lucky may need extra grand.

def get a full size van. everyone gets an escort or an astra to start having been told u will only run out of space, and a yr down the line ur van is rammed to the roof and u will get a big van. transit is prob your best bet for value for money and a pretty reliable if not very swanky van

sounds familiar...

I reckon you should get an old Comma van like they had in the 60's, or even a Bedford CF van. Make sure you get one with sliding front doors.

id quite like to do heritage work and get a mk1 tranny and make it all rustic with old fashioned signs etc. itll never happen tho. itll always be tthe rusty white tranny with no signs

The old man used to do work for a builder who had a commer van,he was for ever hitting bus stops/lamp posts because the wheels set in the body about a foot each side.

My first van was a thames 15cwt slideing doors great driving with doors open in the warm weather.
If your doing domestic work mate then you may find it hard parking a large van, problem when working in terrace streets.

fkin ell henry thats showing your age, first van i had was a bedford cf with twin wheels at the rear, brill van.

dont buy a fiat scudo they are shite ive got an 07 from new never had so much trouble with a van should of kept me hiace

Yep good old work horses them bedford CF vans. I once had a mazda pick up in the 1980's good work horses,
Hey Owls I remenber when petrol was 50p a gallon.

lol my first workhorse was a 1978 Talbot Sunbeam. Hand painted black and a £175. As soon as i drove it oot the garage, the radiator burst!

140? bet that shifts
ive got an 85 and a 110, for a new van the 85 is a flat as a fart,110 is a lot better.
is it a sport van?

Aye it goes like stink mate. It's a limited. Basically the same spec as sportvan, minus the chavvy bodykit! You can have your 110 remapped!

limited eh? that one of mine is a trend, so its got cruise control, electrics, heated window screen etc and its a 280.
its thirsty enough as it is i only get around 25 to the gallon when im towing my machine.
does remapping not void the warranty?

And then reversed it into a hedge

Nearly Spunky. I took my dog to the beach.

Casper, I know it needs alloys, but the ones I want are a grand and a half with tyres, and then it would need lowering too, so that's another £500 for springs or a grand and a half for H&R coil overs.
