good brick work ffsI’ve been setting dots and doing vertical screeds, then rule off these. Certainly haven’t mastered it yet, but close enough. Stairwell was tricky.

shine a light on a wall that will explain allThanks for responses gents
I suppose whether, you screed vertically, horizontally, or both or just put wall on and free rule there is no right or wrong way as long as its straight flat an level in the end
I would say there was a gale blowing brickies line came back the day after it calmed down and carried onthe external has Canterbury spa on the top so brick work is stepped. Prob 8 or 9 bags on that wall
Law of averages said that you'd do something well eventually.I’ve been setting dots and doing vertical screeds, then rule off these. Certainly haven’t mastered it yet, but close enough. Stairwell was tricky.

Freehand is never going to be as efficient as using screeds if you're after high quality work.
I've had guys work for me that used the freehand method and although it initially looked like they were roaring the walls on quicker than me, they took roughly the same time overall, seemed to be rushing around more to rule off before the gear pulled in too much and were constantly having to wet up stiff gear they'd ruled off on to the spot board.
Guys often commented on how much I got done without flying around like a headless chicken.
No, I'm just a plasterer that does things the way they were done in the past when more people had pride in their work.
Lovely job. I'd have boarded that ceiling and scrimmed the joint thoI’ve been setting dots and doing vertical screeds, then rule off these. Certainly haven’t mastered it yet, but close enough. Stairwell was tricky.

Apologies, I didn't make out the strip of pbcheers. Had to leave the ceiling open for access to pipes etc, but that rip of PB is scrimmed in.
