Warrenty

No mate , just experience, hate slap dash and want my work to be solid and last, people pay good money that they have earned themselves, I would rather spend more time,, my money really, depends on how you see it , to give them a proper long lasting job ! Thats my take on it .
how about if they pay good money but it has been taken from an elderly lady or falsely swindled somehow?
(as opposed to legal swindling}

so how about if you overboard and skim ceiling and it cracks?
That really depends on your initial claims to whether its a solution to a problem . its not your responsibility if theirs loft access for a start . trades never want to scare customers cos they might not get the job ,,, honesty is the best policy, anyone who thinks they will never ever get a problem are fooling themselves

so its best to tell them if i skim their shitty ceiling it will crack but if i overboard and skim, it will cost more but probably still crack. So why you all worried about my tape?

I have only ever had two come backs in my life, both re-skims and both over the fireplace, reckon the plaster was so dry with years of heat that it failed, now I allways tripple prime over a used fireplace .

I try my best , that's all I guarantee , I don't usually work for people who haven't seen my work and I'm full of telling them my opinions of pros and cons to various methods and then give them the choice of what they would like me to do , may seem mad but I have no issues and its me who decides if I do their job not the other way round lol

Im in total agreemnent on your principle !

I always put it on my written quotes that if i have advised cracking may occur on a re'skim due to the nature of the original plaster work and there for the customer agrees to the work at there own risk . Most don't like it when they think a room just needs a re'skimming when in reality it should be hacked of and started again . With the best prep you can do there is always a chance of cracking on a re'skim, esp on older properties .

Anyone like to do an experiment and test their nice new over boarded ceiling 10 x 10' room

Room finished and dried , heating back on for a week

Temperature outside is close to freezing

Open the door and Windows , sit in silence and listen for a ping

Dare you lol

Plastering always comes with risks , pre explanation of potential problems is key for your defence , some will be put off as scaring the customer , I view it as being professional

Two years mate that’s bg guaranteed, also disclaimer anything I not happy about again that a bg disclaimer

I’d never guarantee work. Doesn’t even come up in conversation. And I frequently tell them honestly that you can always get hairline cracks with a reskim.

It’s not like I ever do anything complicated. Spend most of my life boarding ceilings and skimming rooms. Don’t see the need to guarantee that
