Who on here actually has a trade

Minimum grand a week is ok. Anything less s**t.

I think being a plasterer is a s**t job, but a good little trade. Low overheads, alot of s**t plasterers about so once you have a good rep the work floods in. Then you charge accordingly.

I ran a completely unrelated business and it taught me alot about money. You ever met anyone who runs a successful online retail business?

Over xmas my pal makes around 5k a night, while he sleeps. Online businesses never stop. All
He does is imports and packs orders.
Trouble with building work it is always and has always been boom and bust. So boom building reliant trades like plastering get great money then crap money. £1000 per week is good but if you averaged it out of say through the bad years then how much would it be?

I know about online trading. Even did it for a while.

I am older than you and what I was told at 16 still stands true today about making money and I am not gonna say it here but you most probably have guessed.

If you can lie through your teeth, have no conscience, could slit your mothers throat in your sleep, then become a politician...........and never worry about making money again.

I think if you can average a grand a week then that's good money..

I also think it's a good job, yes the building trade is boom or bust but that's no different to being employed in any job and losing your job through recession and not having any other skills. Atleast in the building trade we can work as little or as much as possible and will near enough always have a use, same can't be said for hundreds of other careers. Even the public sector isn't safe, police getting laid off, military being cut back.. mid recession even if we could only bring in half what we normally do it beats losing your job and having nothing to pay the bills, and applying for jobs where there's only one of two places available but 100s of applicants.

Said it before tho, if needed x amount a week from a trade it wouldn’t be plastering. Gas or spark

What age group would you be?

Although I agree with that (my mates who are gas and sparks are minted).. I still would have chosen plastering, money is important factor in a career but also enjoying your job is, I would hate being gas or sparks!

Theres

It can be s**t money just depends on the person. I know lads 5 days a week on site and barely pull a grand a week in. That’s 5 hard days too. Just isn’t worth it imo
Come over here lucky to make half that, working for someone that is though i suppose

Nvq level 3 in plastering and fibrous work on paper.

Ive never renderered or done any fibrous work outside of being in college. We didnt even cover fibrous stuff properly, all I remember is running molds covered in shelak up and down a plaster that set like rocket s**t.

Theirs a huge difference in being able to do something and being good and fast enough at something to make decent money doing it

Wow you make that much?

Not evey day no. But can make it some days no problem. Down to the job am at. I get €7m2 skimming labour. I use 6 bags of skim a day on new board work. Mixing for myself. Spraying ocr with 2&1 I can average 80 to 100m2 get €20m2 labour. Just me and the Labourer can spray 60m2 of render no problem.
