I have rendered and dashed loads of no fines houses here in wales, i just give them a good sweep down/wash if necessary ,if sound just scratch and butter/dash, if not sound hack and patch then scratch and dash, some guys just butter coat and dash straight away down here , and work off ladders F...

sorry mate been on book of face , no i'am on several all at the moment all different stages and places , mainly in the west-country , the last one is rendered/screeded/tanked and now curing , ( my excuse lol ) , now just tanking one then tiling, a few with start dates , oh and i have a labourer...

Whent to start tanking a whole swimming pool today, got there somerset from whales no tanking k11 arrived so got payed for the day was home by 1am ,and will start again tomorrow Bankers !!!

It is the right way to tile a bathroom/wet room Spank always tank !! wet areas ,as you say lots of bodgers don't and it is the customers who suffer , it can be very hard getting the message over to tilers that are set in bad ways of working practice ,the same with plasterers who lean bad...

Hi mate ! we are all crackers anyways ........:-)

No mate the idear is when the plasterboard is fixed then the whole of the inside of the plasterboard/tilebackerboard is then tanked and this provides a waterproof interior so water from the inside does not get-out only through the drain or de-humidifier , hope this makes sense mate :-)

John this is what i specialise in really mate ,there are not adhesives on the market at the moment that are deemed waterproof take it from me ,not anti just know what i'am on about, if you don't believe me ! go on to the tilersforum and as them , also i never said you could not dab plasterboard...

Well the fact it's from a diy shed should tell-you straight away !! its sh%* , then it's tubbed pre-mixed adhesive ( more SH%* ) lol read the small-print and you will eventually find the words water-resistant ( meaning leaks like a sieve ) LOL :-)

Just because the job failed does not make the plasterer a cowboy, as john said it could of gone wrong for a number of reasons listed and even more ,the sand could of been incorrect !! ask the plasterer what he thinks and ask him to re-do the work !!, if he refuses then you can complain , ffs...

Yes definitely needs Tanking for shower's most adhesive manufactures make a system that should be used for sure , tile's/grout/adhesive are not waterproof and will leak and fail in time if not straight away :-).

We used to do a whole house for £300 back in the 80's LOL :-)

Well i have got the outdoor pool rendered , by pulling polythene over the wall when it starts ! i 'am tanking now with sovereign K11,and tanked all the walls today outside, floor tomoz !!!!!!!!! rain permitting :-)

Yet a brand-new Renault - master please £100 a month would be great !!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

IN your opinions would these tools help with sand & cement rendering in any way;s ?

Oh yes Hilti are the best i have one the 700 or something ,but its a bit big for holding all day, not buying one Fats ! just seeing what the general opinions are ! :-)

Lots of different spread's use different mixes for various substrates/backings/situations, especially old school ! as we have been around the block ,and don't just know bagged materials lol, OK criticism is fine but lets ,not be to picky essex-boy ..........

I was trying to get the silt test -over really, more than the other info, this is basic stuff for plasterers really so don't get to carried away with yourself LOL.......

on the market for knocking of plaster /render ,it must be a lightweight machine ,but gutsy as well guys , what would you recommend as the best make / model out there ??

Sounds like suction trouble ! did you have a bit of waterproofer in you backing coat ?

Yes thanks mate, the ground workers have tanked the outside of the pool shell before backfilling i'am told by the owners !:-) i can see some black-jack painted on so not sure !, they have plenty of money to pay for the k11 ,so crack-on, i would rather use good stuff mate,...... it's a block-work...

Link Removed just thought i would add this on to the forum as it give's everyone an idea as to how to test your sand delivery from the builders merchants, and may help you if you get -in the **** with any failures due to being given sand that is not fit for purpose :-). Take a read it's well...

Just had a pallet of K-11 diliverd to site and i have never used the stuff , anyone know anything about it to advise me ?

Sand Plastering sand is ------sharp washed sand sharp meaning if you look at it under a microscope the grain's are jaggerdy and angular and lock-together very well so it's a great choice for rendering /plastering. Sand soft or building sand is not good to use for plastering !! if you...

as i thought guys thanks for replies ! i did a proper sand test in an old gerkin-jar you clean it out then add water and dry cooking salt then put the lid on and shake-well to devolve the salt in the water , then you add a good handful of the sand , shake again and then put down on a level...

Diclofenac i'am on them anti inflammatory they are great ........you can buy them on line without a prescription ,and other strong stuff :-)

Well one of my walls the top coat has cracked and gone hollow , but only on one wall ? why, i think its the impurities in the sand ,clay and loam,****,..........

i'am not saying it's a bad thing, do what you want Andy & good luck to you , but i can't see the point of messing with something that is not broken , mesh is great in modified renders and that is where it will stay with me !!,i do loads of traditional render that has served the purpose great...

Why would you use the mesh in ordinary render ? it just would not' occur to me ! been two coat rendering for years about 18 mm thick, modified renders are one coat and on average 6mm so are needed ....

Mix your own mate much -cheaper, as long as you gauge as you go it will be great !!, i'am mixing my own =at the moment, be sure to get OPC instead of cement that has additive in already ,then yo can add what you need them good luck mate :-)

well got on site , put-one in the mixer and left to cream-up ! got the hose and sprayed down the wall, then turned out in to barrow placed barrow by wall and worked from barrow pinching between hawk & trowel whacked it on, the put another one in , thought i would pass the rule over what was on...

LOL Spanky, i wish , never whent in the end it was raining when i got -up, still tomorrow looks ok'ish but tuesday looks crap and so does the rest of the week :-(((.
