    I find the best way for a chimney not to leak is,well dont have one.. however that is not always possible!! What I do ask is ,upstand or flat against chimney ( leadwork I mean)..??

    It's the same cuts that are doing this area, jobs look good from a distance but up close, naa! ! The insulation looks like it already has Base coat on with mesh attached, then once fixed they just mud joints, then fit beads, render and roughcast..

    The only trouble with using smaller chips to make it seem flatter is you are more likely to see casting marks and from a distance it will look nasty, unless the guy doin it is on top of his game. Why not get someone to do a tyrolean but heavier?

Trouble is, it's onto an emulsioned wall so was gonna just do my usual , pva it tonight then before I start another coat of pva. Will that suffice d ya think?     Cheers for reply dan, originally it was a chip off and re-roughcast, then they told me they have cotton wool in cavity so said i would break through and suck that out then re-roughcast. Then i was asked about these new systems with insulation then render so said i would give them a ballpark...

    I find its great for wet dashing onto but for dry dash it skins up pretty quickly so your going like a mad man..

    Got a job to do next week, it's a re-roughcast on a new build. The story is, it was a hpx base coat, then a dash receiver with a wet dash roughcast. However, the feckwits that done it after beading and hpx then proceeded to render the rest of building with dash receiver. Leave it for a week...

    It's a timber frame, got to have them. Usually 6 metres apart and no more than 3 metres from a corner. Usually try and hide them behind down pipes but not always possible..

    Your the man, yes damaged was caused from leaking chimney. They took it down years ago and tiled over, but now have a stove fitted and I just patched up where it was leaking..

    Just done a ceiling over artex, pva’d it then slapped it on, didn't fuckabout to much with it, couple of bits need attention but otherwise job is nice, didn't want to trowel anymore in case it started peeling..

    Great stuff rigsby, however you should batch enough up first to do area your casting,not every bag has same in it ( I find) better wetter than drier or it goes on like grapes..sore on the skin though bud..
