hey guys, im doing a ceiling patch soon , on the ceiling its not plaster but like a thin layer of white looking plaster ( about 3 - 4 mm ). would it be best if i use that finishing plaster, or stick to multi. thanks ???

hey guys, iv been working with another spread now for the past few months, out of the two types of plaster , found that board gets a good finish but goes off quicker than multi, what we've been doing over some big artex ceilings is first coat with multi as it takes that bit longer too go off...

iv been told by an old plasterer, if on a shiney surface silk, gloss type of thing, when you pva it chuck a hand full of sand it which gives the key.true or a load of boll--ks :-?

iv a job soon where there's a hole in the ceiling, about 4 by 4 inch.what im going to do is cut the plaster off around the hole ( to the plasterboard)about an inch around the hole,as i cant seem to find any scrim cloth could i get away with scrim tape instead ? :-/

do you do your first coat of pva 24 hours before you start the job,i put my first coat on the same day and i wait an hour or 2 before the second coat then skim. got to be a better way ? :-/

also, since becoming a plasterer have always used board finish ,but thinking about using multi,my question is, does multi take longer to go off and is the finish just as good as board.and when doing a room do you do walls then ceiling or vise versar.

hey all, got a job on the weekend, and they have lots of bags of plaster all ready there that they want me to use, the thing is the date on the plaster is jan 2008, iv been told that if its out of date it cant be used but could i mix it with new plaster :-/

do you have to scrape off the artex, as when i done my plastering coarse the instructors told me that the artex would act as a key,is this true or not.though i did do a ceiling the other week that was artex but i didnt srape it,i just skimmed it twice,didnt have no problems at all ? :-/

hey all,if i was going to plaster ,say,a big ceiling, is it poss to do it in 2 sections.i really hav'nt done a ceiling yet and its stoping me going alone.im going to do a 8 by 8ft ceiling in my house but should be ok to do just not sure on bigger ones :-/
