Shame there is not a nationwide competition...

quality of finish
attention to detail

etc

Precision plasterers, are the best skimming gang I’ve seen from there work on insta, another level to attention to detail, and mr smooth plastering, for rendering, his work is faultless I’d say there the 2 best I’ve seen from there work , they might even be on here

Yea work looks spot on...

Business sense also , there is so many things , should be young plasterer competitions and old 1 hit a day and financed by UC competition @Kinkyboy

Depending on which way the criteria would fall. Money earned, or from the customers point of view - cheapest spread.

Your probably gonna have a different winner.
In fact there would be a different winner for each of them.

1 winner cleanest

1 winner cheapest ?

1 winner best skimmer etc etc

Capable of getting jobs , running jobs , making it pay business wise , keeping customers happy , having repeat business,

I think they have competitions like this in USA but, based on practical skills.
They are given a set of drawings and just enough materials to complete the task and then a set time to complete the task.
Used to happen here years ago but usually last year apprentice's.

Yea I done it when I was an apprentice, my college chose me to enter, can guess who won?

I failed miserably
:ROFLMAO:

I could understand wanting to be the best surgeon,or sportsperson but plasterer ffs hahahaha, could not give a hoot, aslong as money comes in and its repeat custom that will do

If you can prove your the best you can demand the highest salary like footballers.

I've known a couple of spreads who push themselves as a kind of freaky fitness regime...but to push yourself on day rate?

The 5 chaps that i call exceptional plasterers all are all around 6ft2" tall, slim build and have bodies that appear to be made from rubber. all are very neat in there laying on, very fast , they can float ,set, render, dash,EWI. but not 1 of them could screed a floor ! i don know enough about their business to comment about the financial side things.

Sounds more like grinder, can you drop it 2ft for the Essex lad

That could be part of the competition...

Yeah icing cakes then the other classic; buttering toast...
Another part of the competition a customer stands behind you trying to put you off your game:

“plastering is a real art form”
“don’t your arms ache?”

then they make you a bad cup of tea in a dirty cup and wander around you until they find the perfect place to balance it in your way.
At the end they make you stand and feign interest while they tell what colour they’re gonna paint it and you are judged on your acting skillz
