Builders trying to bum you!

Fair point, but a oner a day is good money up here!

Some builders I know will only pay eighties for any trade...and they've got tradesmen comin out their arse....

he probs does work for himself but needs to get work somewhere so goes to do his graft for a builder
 
even the builders i work for pay at least one fifties cos they want quality, tell a lie one builder i work for only pays 110 a day but he drives you in and back gets me a box of fags a day and doesnt expect miracles cos he knows he aint paying top whack.
is it really getting that bad out there for work at the mo??
 
it wernt part of the deal mate he just tends to stop in the morning to get himself some and more often than not gets me some aswell

I got told some other plasterer breezed in and casually said £3900 the lot....by my calculation he's working for £55 a day....

There's always someone skulking about,like you said probably rough as guts.2k on materials,that sounds really steep even though plenty of board to be used.and 100 a man day,that sounds very low mate.

proberly be with the wifes mate she will go spare if i fook off and leave her on her own ill ruin the promise im on aswell haha
 
she says thanks very much and you havent even seen a pic of her she could be a right dog haha im trying to make the most of holidays with the wife and kids this year mate as our eldest will be starting primary in September so we wnt be able to just pull her out of school when we like to go on holiday

Just have ask the school early and give them plenty of notice. They are normally quite understanding and lenient......we dont all earn teachers wages afterall.
 
i thought you couldnt full stop i asked her nursery teacher she said she tried to get her girl out of school for friday an monday for long weekend and the school said not a chance, the school were sending ours to is ment to be quite strict with regards to time off and not as playfull as some of the other schools in our area so we might struggle.
cheers though mate ill proberly still try next year they can only say no
 
Must depend on the school. I would develop a good repor with the head teacher and pick my moment to sit with her/him and explain that with the building trade as it is, you cant always afford to book at peak times. This will go along way unless he/she is an arsehole, which is a very strong possibilty.....in which case, just sh1t on his/her doorstep.

its up to the headteacher but you are allowed 10days a year but only if the head says its ok, if he/she says NO then its NO and if you go anyway from this year you will be fined, im led to believe that its not a court case jobby if you dont pay it then it comes out of the family allowance or whatever its called these days

we taking the little one out of school next your for 4 weeks, looks like a £400 fine

Same as you dude, I get paid £150 from all the builders/plasterers I know, I wouldn't work for less, as I wouldn't pay them any less when its the other way round! Like you say, they want a good job, its worth the ******* money, and thats both ways.

No tradesmen should be on less than £150 a day, obviously times are hard and its a different story, but when times are good and people accept less than that even working for someone I just dont get it, skillde jobs that takes years of experiences to learn deserve a fair wage, end of.

this has always been the problem. when i first became self employed in the 1960s plasterers where the highest paid in building. with no sick pay, holiday pay, pensions overtime payments. the price of a self employed was accepted to be better paid. but along came a load of idiots and the prices have been cut ever since.

and free rider.....exactly the same mate if you want quality you have to pay for it and in turn wen i want a job out of them i pay them well i dnt understand these builders who will pay shite and keep swapping people cos no one wants to do more than one job for them with the shite wages, surley its better to pay well get a good job and everyone wants to carry on for ya, and as i know the guys i work for will look after me ill do them a turn every now and then just to help them out as a way of appretciation

how old are your kid/kids mate? my girl is 10
 
i usually if im on a day rate just do 2 hits sooooo thats 8 till 3 half 3 ish.
my girls are 4 and 15 months but the eldest will be nearly 5 wen were in france
 
same here normaly in the club for 2.30pm :RpS_thumbup:

my little one (shes 10) will keep smiles on your 2s face when we have a drink :RpS_thumbup:
