Busier than before the financial crash???

You’re a wise owl @owls
All this wealth based on fiat currency is unsustainable. There will be an epic crash at some point. No doubt.
It runs in cycles doesn't it,so yes I agree,
But if you lived your life worrying about the next dip you'd be a nervous wreck.make hay while the sun shines and put a bit away for when the shite hits the fan,as it inevitably will do.

I've got mortgages on two rentals but avoid retail debt like the plague. I wanted a new van so worked hard and saved and bought it...probably not tax efficient or stuff like that but I like that I own it and if work goes quiet it's a monthly payment I don't have to find. Also overpay all my mortgages by £500 each so mortgage free in 10 years

Some on here have absoloutley no financial sense!

Everyone should have minimum of a years salary tucked away in a bank account to cover themselves and there family should problems arise!

I can honestly say that i wouldnt sleep at night without!

As a small self emoyed tradesman i still need a minimum of 10k cash flow in business account to cover jobs outlay etc.

This is why pladterers gain no respect set of tramps, coppering up to pay for a few bags of finish to pay for mrs jones living room!

Jesus F*****g christ!

Yep I've always put a bit away you just never know what's around the corner, plus I need that much working capital in my game financing jobs etc easy around 50 grand at any one time, that I've worked into the business over the years.

Ridiculously busy here aswell but here in the West of Ireland, miserable bastards they are. There's a limit on prices and anytime I price over it, I seem to be losing them. In saying that, I got 2 excellent earners last month for a days work and 2 days. Scary how much I got but that has been very rare and the fact one was an insurance job and other was from Hitler's territory that I managed to get them. Any other jobs, same aul balls. Can be sickening at times TBH

As title says?

Dont think ive ever known it be so busy, my theroy is that it has gone back to pre recession level but there is now less plastereres/trades.

Aging workforce imo building game at the moment?

Thoughts?
Agree about the ageing workforce I'm the youngest spread in the builders merchants at 44 just don't see any youngin coming through which isn't a good sign

There is good debt and bad debt...

good debt brings you money in and bad debt takes money away... <=== rich dad poor dad

I have a 2 mortgages 1 will be done in 5 - 10 years and the other should be done in 15 years. The 15 year one will get cleared a lot quicker once the other one is paid off as we are boshing the other off quick...

We only spend on what Jane can afford as she is paid well and her job is about as secure as you will ever get. As long as her wages CAN cover all of our outgoings we know we are good.

My earnings can change somewhat and I pile large sums of money into projects and I may not get a return for 6 months or longer so without the stability of Janes income I would not be able to do what I do to make money.
