Got to price a job in Devon for a builder we know, coming down from north east.

Full house to do onto fresh plasterboard.

What’s average price for m2 ??

Any help would be appreciated

According to @Olican who's down that way it's all day rate there, which is a pastie, pint of cloudy cider and a dry bumming. If you're a 2&1 gang I think they throw in a sheep as long as the labourer hoses it out when it's full.

It's the price you agree between yourself and the builder, why are you asking on a forum?

We did a job last summer in okehampton, but I didn’t price it. Got 16 houses to do this summer. It’s for a builder in the north east. Would like to know what average price m2 is down there just to help us price, or even day rate?

Because I’m not overly fussed about working away, unless it’s worth it. Money tends to differ the further south you go, so just trying get an idea that’s all, and why I’m asking the question on the forum...

what you have to factor in is digs, traveling time, fuel. you may be better off subbing the work out to a local.

Ok got you, but your price should not be altered down to get work but if your putting price up then it would not worry you.

Digs is paid for, fuel we will split. Be down for 2 weeks at a time. Me and another lad going to skim only, 4 bedroom house. I would just like to get an idea of prices from lads in Devon area so when I get the drawings work out how much area there is to cover and what we can charge.

We went down last summer and did a bungalow. I didn’t price the job but we did okay out of it. This time there’s a lot more work. I will be pricing it this time and would just like some idea of day rates/m2 prices from lads down there so I can use them as guidelines. Are you from the area ?

I work all over the country but my rates rarely change only my expenses.

Thing is if you want to charge the same as the locals do (assuming that it's more) the builder might as well get a local guy to do it. It's not like your skimming is going to be so much better than everyone else's. He's probably asking you to do them to save a few bob, and who can blame him.
No offense meant.
