Hi guys this is my first time skimming, the wall came out very smooth and flat thank GOD however these lines starting showing up are these water marks I’m not really sure, the decorators have mist coated and have finished painting and it came out acceptable

So I just have a few questions

why did those marks come up??

What are cat eyes!?? How to prevent ?

What are shadow lines?? How to prevent?

What are tram lines ?? How to prevent ?

I know I’m asking a lot but if someone could educate me I would appreciate it

You can avoid all of those problems by employing a decent plasterer you tight git.
Who on earth gives skimming a go, but employs decorators?
Mind boggles.

I don’t know what tram lines are or shadow lines

Chatter lines….. just go over again

Cat faces/misses….. little hollows, fill with fat.

Tiger lines…. Too wet to trowel.

Just do big sweeps with your arm.

Finish off with horizontal passes

Figure out when to leave it alone and when to go over

Give yourself many years and you’ll be flying

Cheers Jess

We should now have enough for a glossary page

Everyone has their own names and descriptions - that'd be interesting to compare all over the UK actually.

Hello mate sorry to boggle your small mind this was a small wall in my flat that I thought I’d give a try because why not, for your information I did hire plasterers

Thank you bud,

You shouldn't be filling anything with fat you chancery.
Not really your fault though is it, seeing as you were taught to plaster by a carpenter.

Apology accepted Pak. My little mind is quite often boggled on this forum by people like yourself, but I'll survive.
"I thought I'd give it a go - why not" because you don't have the skill set to do so, quite clearly. It's just f**k**g up one wall for no good reason. If you've had decent spreads in why didn't you ask them to appraise your skimming?
Anyway do yourself a favour and don't listen to anything @JessThePlasterer tells you, he's absolutely clueless, nice enough, but clueless.

Tram line are when you don't iron the creases in your denims properly and have two instead of one sharp.
I think shadow lines are when a tranny forgets to shave.
