It will be checked somewhere down the line, has to be. There even means testing disability allowence for poor bastards on wheel chairs etc you think hmrc are just going to give Money out to 100s of thousands of people with no come backs.

Why are they free loaders it’s the opposite isn’t, it if there saving the strain on the nhs should they get sick off it.judt thinking for your self is highly selfish.

That’s what I was thinking but then again tax rebates slip under the net they only investigate a certain %

I am not saying they are freeloaders, I am saying it is wrong to judge others actions at this time if it is not a crime.
 
So reading it, it seems that;- It's only 80% of your profits not turnover. As normal you will have minimised your taxable profit with all those 'Ahem@, business costs, thereby reducing the potential payout.
So all your running expenses, like van HP, storage, business insurance, etc are still running but you won't get any money towards them. Any monies paid have to be included in your taxable income declared for the rest of this year.
Somewhere inside HMRC a techie is writing a clever program to make Big Dog (my name for it) to calculate each persons 3 yr average profit, and compare it to the "standard" profit to overhead ratio for your specific trade or business, then check that the profit came mainly from your trade not your other income like pensions, share dividends/house rentals(?)/inheritances/other.
Any stand-out odd-balls will get a letter like the decorator's did, asking if they want to correct or make a declaral of omitted income. Or Sorry you don't qualify.
Others will get a notice on the HMRC SA website saying money has been transferred back to your account, max £2.5k

Did I mention my dearly departed Godfather was a Regional Tax Inspector? S'True.
 
You’ll be taxed on the grant anyway , Hmrc are ruthless, just gave me a vat bill for going over threshold in 2018 although they say I don’t have to vat reg now but I should of been in 2019 although I was under the threshold in 2019

It is calculated over twelve month period not calendar year.

I am working at a school for disabled kids all playing together with carers/teachers also mixing with no protection. No moaning, no bitching, no masks.

Still no masks delivered to the trust my Mrs works at, still care homes left in the dark on the PPE front, Still no where near the 100k tests MR Hancock promised by end of month.

recieved a letter 2 weeks ago,.....because of my crohns,....and medication, methtexterate,......i am at risk/vulnerable,.......now confined indoors for 12 weeks,.....not happy about it,rather be working,...but staying inside to help others/and nhs,......thats the way it is,.......personally this whole lockdown is going to get much worse,....take care everybody ,think of your family,....be prepared for a long haul

I’m not a Labour or Tory but any government would struggle at present, you’d think, as they are around the world (apart from Germany). The worry for me is there’s no exit strategy. Very little testing, no vaccine in place, not enough ppe. We’re all going to have to go back to work in the next few weeks with nothing changing. I’m not so bad as I’m on the outsides on new builds so can put in measures in place,but domestic plasterers that work in people’s housing there work will drop off a cliff.

Sites are still going job I’m on they wanted me or one of blokes there this week, we said no as for me and my blokes is the right thing to do, end of the day the government had reports from scientists and uni’s and evidence that this was all coming so the wise thing was surely to order the PPE at lease and not let football matches and music concerts and Cheltenham still go ahead.

Yea agree to all that, but where are the government ,could of got hold of or gonna all of a sudden magic 30 million + ppe , every country in the world are scrambling for the same crumbs too. My only criticism of this government is they should of shut down Cheltenham, other than that I’m not sure what more they could of done, hindsight is a wonderful thing

You’d moan as well if ya Mrs went to the Hospital every evening working her fingers to the bone and trying her hardest to save lives without the right PPE or new PPE, let alone being under paid and under staffed.

But considering you’ve disliked every post I’ve made calling out the government tells me you’re a massive Tory and couldn’t careless about other people as long as your alright, that’s all that matters I suppose.

My sister's a care supervisor for a company and is responsible for 190 carers. They had a delivery of 350 masks. If used properly it would last a few hours, and that's there only delivery due for a week or more

Your one of those ,you’d call out this government if they stuck 10 k in everyone’s bank acct and the nurses were on 50 k a year , it’s the same old rhetoric from the likes of yous
