Not tried the spat properly yet, been wanting to try one for ages but have it down to a tee with the SF and Speedskim. Now I've got one I'm wondering at what point I should try the spat? Tried it briefly on a ceiling instead of the SF for first trowel but was taking to much off.

Personally I think there s...t for skimming leaves it to greasy in my opinion they are more for one coat plasters for bringing the fat up
 
Personally I prefer the nela s*p*r*lex that normal spat to me just feels awkward cos of the straight handle putting more pressure on the old wrist but that's just me other spreads may love it
 
Going on here say and being Nieve I went and bought 3 nela trowels. An 11 inch and 13 inch premium and 16 s*p*r*lex. The 11 I find ok . The 13 i find unbalanced as in slightly to the heel of the trowel pressure wise. And the s*p*r*lex I don't get what all the fuss is about.( however this one is well balanced). I have a 18 x 4 1/2 carbon mt that I cut down to 16 inch it is nice and sharp and finishes with little water a lot sooner than the s*p*r*lex. Why do I find the 13 unbalanced does anyone else find this??

these are a continental tool what we use for finishing self finishing plasters. i feel they are trying to find if they are of any use with gypsum plaster over here.

Wondered this too, when I purchase my mt ss 14ins it said on the sticker on trowel "finish cement like a pro"noticed since then they all saty this,maybe designed f8r render "stucco"and as said just by chance were great for gypsum based plasters.:confused:
 
Does nela do a laying on trowel? They super flex are the boyz I've never seen or done some thing so beautiful best investment ever
 
s*p*r*lex has a better bond to avoid the de-lamination issues in the past. It has been tested more and has passed with flying colours

The Premium has an improved blade with a better grinding. Meaning it will 'break-in' quicker.

Not major ones by eye, but improvements which have been passed to us by the trade.

NELA listen to all reviews and love them coming in. This is why I love working with them

I got it off fleabay (the wooden handle is a twig, and is just right). It's about knackered as the tube handle has split where it's flattened and welded onto the blade. Bloody useful little twitcher - will have to look for another..
 
BTW, when are you getting more 11" in - after using the s*p*r*lex my Tyzack Centenary feels numb! Although I'm getting used to it again :RpS_thumbup:

two completely different trowels mate, you cant compare them really...

I know, I'd got used to working with my s*p*r*lex and got into a rhythm. The Tyzack is a lot more hard work but still produces a great finish (dug my plastic float out as well for the final polish).
