great question and one asked by tech guy at major bead manufacturer.
run Stanley knife down both sides of nose and peel off slither.
takes couple seconds and leaves bead firmly stuck and arris clear of tape.

Make the tape wider so you can go vertical

Expanding on from what @choppa said - if you stuck the tape inline with the wings it could act as a scrim as a lot of us scrim the beads for extra crack resistance...that is if it has fibre in the tape - normal gaffer tape has. Hmm, I feel a patent application pending with the I.P. being?

I varnished some plasterboard and left it in the rain one winter , balanced across two bricks , 2 weeks later still no bend ,
Just thought I'd let you know , no video proof though
Only about 600 to go
