You can make me out to be thick all you like my friend, if I do a job and get a call back because a ceiling or wall I skimmed fails, I'd think oh s**t how has this happened and put it right, I'm not sure I'd ever feel the need to call bg to blame them, unless I'm using uni finish and it fails, so are your call outs to assess who or what is at fault mainly uni ? Because I just do not see why else another plasterer would need to come and check what has gone wrong, but hey I'm thick though
So other than being called out for a uni finish assessment what faults have you had to check ?
I can't ever remember anyone on here or in talking to other spreads havIng another plasterer come and check there work to see who is at fault product or plasterer.
Ive seen reps onsite a few times assesing plaster works.....cause of shite materials....skim adehsive and boards.
Ive been called on to sites and homes and been asked" what went wrong here "on plaster screeding dampness paint flaking off fresh plaster etc.......sometimes i had answers sometimes i dont.
I dont give a fuuck about my spelling either.......its just plastering life is too short.

I haven't been up there yet did the front ceiling upstairs in uni I have to look at that one aswell8 months is quite long time for a delamination on a ceiling,usually if a bond failure occurs it is quicker than that.
Did you say you used same gear in the house in other areas.how is that ceiling,if OK then probably not material.
If there is no sign of water damage from above on reskim probably material.

There are plenty of problems that can be there, nicotine, grease, dust, certain paints, loose paint, loose artex, artex on top of paper, loose tapes and this is before you have chosen the plaster.It's an interesting one OK, or maybe terrifying one. @flynny I get the assess ceilings for cracks etc and then decide whether to overboard or not, but that's all you can assess isn't it? uni should stick to anything other than distemper?
Just to add if magnetic plaster stops being magnetic I take full responsibilityI find it interesting that a BG approved assessor won't use Uni as he doesn't have confidence in it, that speaks volumes.
The reason vincey is taking some slack for this is because he's known for singing uni's praises at EVERY opportunity as well as advising anyone who will listen to give it a go - but as soon as it goes tits up it's all of a sudden daft to be arguing over bags of plaster - coming from the selfie master that takes pictures of bags of uni on jobs ffs.

If a customer is not happy and it is usually down to bad work rather than materials, so the first call will be from a customer and the rep with be there to back up the materials not the plasterer. I honestly don't get why you can't get your head round this @gps. British gypsum are offering a two year guarantee, to do this you must first be on the scheme so that your work can be checked over. If anyone needs to use that guarantee because of some failure or whatever reason they need a representative in place to do a site visit, someone who knows about day to day plastering and not someone who has learned all about plaster from sitting in a office. Without having someone who knows what they are doing going out to any possible problems then you wouldn't be able to write a guarantee. Honestly you pick up on the stupidest of points and won't let go.

And just to balance things up and clarify, if it's not the material what happens next?If the customer goes down the 2 yr guarantee scheme and has issues with the job, they are told to contact the plasterer to come back and see what the problem is. If the plasterer claims he/she isn't to blame, the customer rings BG. BG will then instruct one of the assessors (NOT a rep) to go to the job and see what the problem is. If the assessor says it is a product fail, BG will foot the bill . That's it !!!
Well if that's what @Vincey says it must be trueI take it your assuming that he is only checking for faults from members who are on this scheme ? My understanding is he is checking either faulty product or workmanship across the board.
Do not forget though vincey himself said only the best get on it through its rigorous assessment so surely no faults from workmanship would ever be an issue from its members.
