Uber, Checkatrade, MyBuilder etc.

Interesting...., the ramifications could be far and wide. Not used any sites like those, but guess some company bosses got the jitters tonight.

I am sure if you worked on site for the same firm on day work for set amount of time they had to employ on the cards... I got lectured on how I worded my invoice all those years ago....

most firms set up their own agency to run their sub contractors. one woman in an office to control the paperwork, by doing this they avoid paying redundancy to their self employed staff who do not issue quotes for the contracts.

Most big firms make you fill out a form that stops them from having to pay you holiday pay and uber will get round that no problem

Wonder of it will apply for Addison Lee drivers too?

I always thought if you worked for a company for 6 weeks then they would have take you on the cards but if you supplied materials then you were a sub contractor.

Have you got some sort of problem? Idiot

Mmmm me the idiot, what a dumb thread, I can't for one minute even think as to why you have come up with it, it's not even close to being the same concept

It is the same you tosser. If not today exactly it might be next week or next year. Things change.

Uber will not let that happen though blackdog and most of the uber drivers don't want it cause they lose their benefits it was only 2 drivers who brought this action the rest will not follow it up

Must admit its not the same concept at all..next people will be comparing hungry house and just eat to checkatrade lol..ur excused tho blackdog ur a spread were all a thick bunch at heart especially @theplasterman...man that guy is thick :-)

To be honest blackdogs assumption is right all platforms he mention are in a way provider of work who take a commission based on job

But hungry house etc don't send you jobs though

It's very simple though, with uber you work on a self employed basis, if you/they don't like it don't do it, it's very simple really.

They charge for each lead based on the value of the lead don't they?

Approximate job size
Shortlist fee
Up to £75 £2
£75 - £125 £3
£125 - £250 £5
£250 - £400 £8
£400 - £750 £12
£750 - £1,500 £18
£1,500 - £3,000 £25
£3,000 + £35

Take your head out your arse you pay just like uber drivers do

You said it's commission and it's not, you pay a nominal fee per lead which absolutely no one is obliged to pay if they do wish to use the lead.

Like it or not it's the cheapest form of advertising with the added bonus of reviews from other users.

But back to the original point, how can Checkatrade/my builder be deemed to be employing people on a self employed basis or otherwise it's just ridiculous

It's still commission

Explain how then ? But please base it on facts and not what your friends friends dads mum has said
I have seen it first hand doing the knowledge but gave up because uber have destroyed the black cab trade
