Every year is a sh1t ******* year, and 2015 will be no different. Working harder than I've ever ******* worked. With a bit of luck I might have a ******* heart attack to put me out of my misery.
Happy ******* New Year.?

Highs
* bought a lovely Victoria 1880 house
* was a good year financially for work
* conceived our first child expecting March 2015
* met some fantastic neighbours at the new place who have gone above and beyond for us.

Lows
* the amount of hours I've put into this house
* all the set backs we've had with it
* money running out because of this house

Probably my best year since 2007. Low point was trying to find a decent apprentice and having the motivation to give another handful a go, still without any success

Low was getting the van nicked,

high was was the help and support received from everyone on here, getting me up and running again, never will I be able to repay this

Absolutely great bunch on here,

Compared to previous years i cant really give a low point. Things were fairly steady. I didn't get some retention back for a piss poor reason was probably the worst i can think of. (£700 ish)

High points were staying pretty busy and earning good money fairly consistently across the year and importantly there seems to be a good outlook for this year.

I've certainly had a lot worse years and a lot less confidence in the ones to follow them.

I think i read a few posts just after i joined about this. I was impressed by how leen people were to help you. You dont get much of that anymore these days.

i have already had a highlight for 2015.
we got up early this morning to bucket coat the external of a shop in ipswich. we got the lot on when a young polish woman came around the corner pushing a pram. she was not the brains of poland as she tried to squeeze in between my truck and the wet wall. any way she carried on her journey with a yellow stripe across her arse!

I did laugh... we are in the same boat... we just spent £2500 on a fricken bed... so get saving for when you are ready to move in....

Ha luckily we have furniture from where we are now. Only thing we need to buy really is a new cooker and ideally a new sofa. But for now will make do.
Worst costs are this bloody chimney and the wood burners :( giving me a right headace

my son in law made his own stove, and put metal duct work in to take the heat to other rooms .he did have to pay out to have a flue liner

Problem I'm facing is there was one in already but the stove was damaged so we couldn't test it. Now. We have a new one and after 12 months of fixing the previous owners botched jobs I don't wanna connect it straight up as its basically a big bomb if done wrongn with pressure building.
I know already part is wrong but I need some one who really knows what there doing to sort it. Got a guy coming Monday but 2 other people have already turned there head away from it. Ergh.

Highs in no particular order:

Bought a brand new van (first time I've had anything newer than ten six years old)
Learned a fair bit.
Family all well and happy.
Met some decent people.
Done some good work.
Bought my first renovation project.

Lows, again in no particular order:

Had to take my Labrador for his final injection.
Struggled a bit with organising my work along with customers work.
Haven't ridden the bike.
Work dominated my time far too much.

So all things considered, 2014 much like any other year with it's ups and downs. 2015 will be rinse and repeat, but with new and different ups and downs.

.... and so the world turns. :RpS_biggrin:

You forgot met lee on the lows list gary

Nah, that balanced out because he introduced me to @Olican :RpS_wub:

It's early days, but we ring each other regularly and we have loads to talk about. I'd never considered mail order brides before, but the language difference isn't as much of a barrier as I thought it'd be. We're gradually getting each other used to the cultural differences and traditions. I've enjoyed learning about Wicker men and the strange fertility rites, and you should have heard the awe in his voice when I told him about electricity! Almost as excited as @Nisus was when I told him about indoor plumbing. :RpS_biggrin:

Yeah we have our old furniture but everything is a hand me down and to be honest we dont want as much clutter in this place...

Everything when renovating is a headache...

and your relationship with the Head Clown ? Surely that should be on one of your lists ?

:RpS_scared: You do realise I can never speak to you on the phone again? If I did I wouldn't be able to get that horrific image out of my mind. That quilt is sold out of date it must be at least 25 years old and I'm guessing there's going to be a fair bit of DNA embedded in it.

So what you saying? You want to take this to the next level, Skype..webcam  that quilt is pretty much solid matter now ;)
