When pricing domestic work after I giving my price wich would average around 5to6 for a standard room I always tell the customers about my wife who works at job centre and she tells me that any doley can ask for a plastering course and the dhss will pay for it so these idiots are doing this course calling themselves plasterers doing cheap jobs and making a right old mess of it so how can they be any good after a four day course when i did a four year apprenticeship . By the way this is true but watch there faces as u tell them this story and I seem to get most domestic work I price

Honestly I just said it once genuinely then I saw the customers face change and more or less gave me the job there and then and I thought hello . It's not foolproof but works for me and it is true

hi talking of crazy prices went to quote on a job the other day for doing a 6x5 metre living room inc ceiling only to get told after i had given my price that his mate was doing it for £120 and he just wanted to know if he was ripping him off, now thats what you call a joke i felt like killing him

I know a few spreads who charge that down here and regularly get them, job i looked at the other week had paid her spread £700 per average bedroom and room in the house, and he was to busy to do the last room, she was well chuffed when i said £500 all in and i got a tip lol...

If someone done that to me I would invoice him for my time, fuel and advice - all of which he has had from you free of charge without any intention of offering a reward for your services. Unless you have 'free estimates' written on your adverts that is, then it's your own fault :RpS_thumbup:

a lad who lives down the road is one of those property maintenance blokes. You know the ones that have loads of trades on there van but cant do any of them to a decent standard. He charges landlords £80 a day cos he reckons they arent bothered about a decent job and this clown is working 7 days a week. He was sticking plastic cladding on the kitchen walls with expanding foam the other day when i was working next door..:-0

Couple of years ago £500 a room was about right down my way dude, South London/Surrey.. I still get £400 all in (labour+materials (exluding rubbish removal)) for ya average front room/Double Bedroom re skim.. I wouldn't work for less unless I REALLY needed too, ALL spreads should get atleast that, just a shame not all can at the minute.
Yeh I agree with the 400 price,that's what I would generally charge all in.quoting 5 or6 though would be pushing your luck i reckon.if you can get the work though nice one.:RpS_thumbup:

as mr blones said a while back and i completely agree with. id rather work 1 day at £200 a day than 2 days at £100. so give a good price. you might only work 2 days a week but your gonna earn the same as someone that massively undercuts you working 4-5 days.

if i had just one job on and it was for £200 and i could do it in a day id sooner do it over 2 days than one rather than sit at home, same if it was £300 id try and make it last 3. Id sooner do 2 or 3 half days that 1 or 2 full days. saying that i only work half days these days anyway :RpS_lol:
