My mate who does carpets has a vw transporter. Absolutly solid, and they keep there value well. With the weather in this country you probably don't want to be relying on keeping your boards on the roof so a transit or similar is a good bet.

I like this post because it shows you are open minded about it. :) No one is trying to tell you how it is, we are just giving our opinion on a course, which was what the origional poster was asking about. The invite has been thrown out numerous times to yourself, beddy, and spunkface. Get...

Gold Trowel 6 week City & Guilds Qualification including a Krend (Rendering) Certific

...would this be the IT consultant that learnt off his mate? I don't mean that as a dig, I'm just making a point. Every other trade or job has training centres, uni, colleges dedicated to it and it works well if you go to the right one. Why not plastering?

Huh? Someone who pays 2 and a half grand and taking 6 weeks out of there life to persue a different career have not made a commitment??? Everyone I have met on the C&G course are highly motivated and have taken well to the job. Some are just young lads but many are 30 plus with commitments...

It wasn't me mate, I just read it. Brumplasterer said it. No offense to him though as no one here knows how good he is. Apology accepted though, cheers. I think a few others may have made the same mistake. I'm prepared to travel within 45 mins from cambridge to labour for anyone here for a...

Spunky, a lot of s**t was said yesterday. Everything you said in your last post is true and correct. And if and if you look down to how this started you will see that I never said anything to the contrary. With everything said we should all just live and let live and realise that there is a...

So you are saying that anyone can skim in 2 days but it takes years to learn how to mix? ....nice one, don't think I'll bother thanks. How many times do I have to say it; I never claimed I was a great plasterer, just better then the bloke I payed. Read back to my first post and see how this...

I've never been on that forum mate but I know that when I mention the fact you use a sponge float when you skim that they will s**t a brick over it.:RpS_scared:

    What employes want!!!!!!!!!

I've been doing this for two years so far and you think I'm going to be put off by a f*ckmonkey like you? haha er...no. I think you have an overwhelming sense of self importance on this forum. Have a look over your posts and think about what it is you offer here? **** all, just like me. But...

@Scotsplasterer I agree with you mate, skimming is not the be all and end all. And you cant learn everything from a course. And I have never slated spunktasters experience/skill. THis is a great forum with knowledgeable people, but I know for a fact that a lot of people are fed up of this...

You haven't read a word I have said have you you muppet. I haven't said I was mr plaster. I said that I was better then the bloke that did my house and that was after a week. That was two years ago dickhead. Stop thinking that what you do is rocket science- its not. Like most trades it...

    What employes want!!!!!!!!!

I know exactly what you mean mate, what I'm saying is that the route of that is not just down to courses. Explain 'mr 27 years experience' that came and ****** up my house? He was an apprentice and he was so s**t that he drove me to train up in it myself. Its the person that matters not how...

    What employes want!!!!!!!!!

I'm 30, I have a wife, and a kid, I left home years ago and got a mortgage years ago. And yes I have been there, but it was just a different trade that I work worked my way up in. You have no idea who you are talking to or what experience I have. Unfortunatly this trade and my trade are both...

    What employes want!!!!!!!!!

Mate, think about it. If someone in your local area says; 'I'm starting plastering. I don't mind working for you for free in my days off, I just want to learn and get a feel for it'. 1) No one can afford to work for free for that long. 2) Most people would not bother working for free for...

    Bucket trowel

Gibbo, I haven't got any problems with spunklicker. I just seems that every thread I have read has had him in it whining about coursers, money, wages etc. I've only been here a few weeks and I'm already bored of it, so god knows what everyone else is thinking. I just think this forum could do...

Gold Trowel 6 week City & Guilds Qualification including a Krend (Rendering) Certific

@beddy- Good post, what you said makes a lot of sense. Like I said though, you can't judge all coursers on one bloke the same way I wouldnt judge all because of the bloke that had been doing it 27 years. One thing a course doesnt provide you with is real site experience, but like any job, you...

Not sure if a local plasterer is going to let you shadow them knowing you will be starting up by yourself in competition with them but if you do then good luck. Personally I wouldn't work for free, but thats just me. Get yourself on a decent course with goldtrowel and see how you get on...

Sorry mate I can't find the PM function. I bought one of your riveted trowels the other day but haven't used it as it looks like it with damage my trowel. the revits have bent the trowel so only the edges make contact. The rivets themselves also sit proud so it looks like they will chip my...

Gold Trowel 6 week City & Guilds Qualification including a Krend (Rendering) Certific

I wish people would actually go on a goldtrowel course before they judge it. I went on a 1 week goldtrowel course because I wasnt willing to pay a plasterer £700 to render my outhouse which I built. Why you ask? ...because I paid for an '27year experienced plasterer' to patch my wall, and he...
